I love this place! Either at their location in da South side or if you run into their food truck around the city! They make some of the best BBQ around! But don't sleep on their famous "Barbacone"!! It's all your favorite BBQ fixin's layered into a waffle cone! It's an experience you need to try!

Big portions, fast service, and great taste! The wait wasn't very long at all.They accept cash only, which I found surprising.The cornbread was huge, and it wasn't overly sweet, which I prefer. The Mac 'n' Cheese had a good texture. The pulled pork was.moist and flavorful.

I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife for lunch. While we had never noticed the Southside BBQ Company before, we found it in the Enjoy book and decided to pay it a visit. It's located maybe a block off of Carson on South 17th Street. On the day that we were there, their food truck was parked right in front of the restaurant. The inside of this place was a bit tinier than I expected with a bar the length on the left and then some tables off to the right. They did have another room that I walked through whenever I used the restroom but the state of it made me pretty confident that they didn't use it much, if ever. In any case they had a couple of TVs above the bar which had golf on while we were there.For lunch on this day my wife and I decided to split everything that we ordered. So between the two of us we ordered the smoked brisket and pulled pork entrees (not sure what made them entrees since they didn't come with anything) and then fixins of collard greens and the pepper jack Mac and cheese. On the table here they had four types of BBQ sauce: Carolina, Ghost, Hot and Not. I tried all of them throughout the meal and the only one that I really enjoyed was the Carolina. The Ghost one definitely had some heat but not the best flavor while the hot and not were missing a bit of sweetness which you usually get. In any case our food came out in a somewhat weird configuration as the greens and brisket had their own plate while the pulled pork and Mac and cheese shared another plate. The first thing that I ended up trying was the brisket which was decent. It wasn't tough but it wasn't super tender either and while tasted good enough, I didn't get any smoke flavor from it. This was similar to the pulled pork which was nice and moist but also lacked any smoke flavor. The Mac and cheese ended up being creamy and I enjoyed it but didn't get the pepper jack flavor I was looking for. Finally the greens were made with a vinegar base and were the thing that I enjoyed the most out of our meal. They were nice and tender and had a great flavor to them.The bottom line for me is that I might head back here again in the future. While nothing was wrong with the food, I didn't find it great either and think that there are better BBQ joints in Pittsburgh.

So disappointed with our meal. Tiny amount of ground beef for the BBQ brisket which was 19 dollars? And the French fries were over cooked. I called to see if there was a mistake with our order and they were not willing to help rectify the issue. Will not be returning

It was honestly not just the worst BBQ I've ever eaten. It was some of the worst food I have ever eaten. I'm honestly not picky. The brisket was just a crime against history and all the pit masters who have worked all night to serve amazing BBQ. It was like roast beef they purchased in bulk and sliced it with a meat slicer. But somehow still not good. I'd eat a roast beef sand which any day. Did the boil the brisket? There was no smoke. Not at all. It was rubbery and grey. The pork was like a moist wet flavorless chunk of meat. No smoke. No flavor. No texture. No burnt ends. I don't think I even have energy to talk about the ice cream cone pork dish I had. I'm still too traumatized. I'll just leave you with the photo.

Passed their food truck during the fashion and food truck rally during Earth Day.Bar-B-cone: Cole slaw, pulled pork, pepper jack mac n cheese in a cone. So, so, so, so good.Cornbread: Large portion, good flavor, but the texture was a little off.Only thing I'm sad about is that they didn't have their spiciest bbq sauce here. :(Employees were funny and overall - awesome. :) Anytime you order the bar-b-cone, they sing baaaaaaar-b-cone. It's cute.

I'd had BBQ from this truck many times in my old neighborhood of Seven Fields with no issue. But then my boss decided to have the truck for our Christmas get together. The sides were very good as were the ribs and pulled pork. But I'm not sure how a business like this got away with serving raw chicken. Look at the picture. Outer layer was cooked then you got deeper and it was the most raw meat I've ever seen. And it was the same for all 70 or so employees that got it. Everyone couldn't believe it. My boss did receive a refund for the chicken (only after complaining, the truck never realized it) but it was given to him with attitude. I wouldn't choose this truck for a catering event if they were the only one available in Pittsburgh. Unbelievable.

We used South Side BBQ to cater our son's graduation party from Pitt and everything was excellent! Pat, the owner, was very accommodating and the food was great!
