Perfect dive bar. Comfy stools with backs, jukebox, some electronic games, friendly, conversational bartender (Patrick - shout out), welcoming regulars, respectable bottled beer selection, clean ladies room with chalkboard to express yourself, strong drinks, and ashtrays. A mural of drinking cats out front. Dim and smoky within. All ages are comfortable here. They were simmering some kielbasa and fixings when we were there but we couldn't stay. I got the feeling food is available starting late afternoon, at least on a weekday. It'll be a while till we're in Steeltown again, but when we are I hope to stop back and stay longer.

I love me a good dive bar, especially one that exudes hole in the wall vibes. Sonny's has kind of an off putting feeling to it from the outside. It looks rough and gives you the feeling that the patrons inside might be rough themselves. But looks can be deceiving.Parking is a bit tricky here, from what I can tell it is all street parking, so first come first serve. Once inside it's like there is a basement vibe going on. It really feels as if you are in someone's basement game room more than a bar. Wood paneling abounds, but somehow it is pulled off here.It looks like options are limited when it comes to drinks, but that is totally not the case. Instead I've seen every drink possible made here. Specials seem to run throughout the week for both drinks and food. As is typical for Tuesdays, tacos.Pitchers seem to be the best way to go if you want beer. Decent price for the amount you get. This place has a good community feel to it. People seem to frequent this place often as the bartender and cook knew just about everybody that was here. The regulars come here to play darts and watch the game. Penguins were playing while we were here. Just so you know, the jukebox goes on silent while the game plays.

Bleak dive nestled on the outskirts of Bloomfield that attracts all walks of life; hipsters, degenerates, older folks and twenty somethings. Decent selection of beers and kinda pricey for a dive. Not expensive but what you'd expect to pay at a more sophisticated tavern. Maggie is a cute and bubbly bartender who is always upbeat and happy. She's attentive and good at her job.Naturally friendly and sweet. She's a bright ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark space. Sonny's has karaoke, live bands and trivia. If you've got a "must see dive bar" list, add this place to it. Great people watching spot; the variety of patrons are quite entertaining.

I have been walking by Sonny's for years and wondering what was inside, from the cool murals on the outside it was going to be something great. I finally made it out on a Friday night and it was the perfect dive bar atmosphere. There were a few small groups of friends at the bar and the bartender was nice. They have several dart machines and some other games. They also have a shelf of board games and card games in the corner by the darts which is a real plus for me! Prices were pretty much the best they could be, too! Cheapest vodka Red Bull I've ever gotten. My boyfriend got a couple seasonal beers too that were surprisingly inexpensive. I can't wait to come back!

Every 30-something enduring the existential panic of a childless not-quite-white collar existence, whether alone or with someone you might maybe marry to avoid dying alone, needs a bar that:-is within walking distance-has a short memory and/or forgives all but the most grievous of public sins, and -has cheap booze.Sonny's is that bar. Tips for new visitors: 1-Sonny's is both smoker-friendly and without an effective ventilation system; you will go home smelling like an ashtray. 2-the jukebox has a great selection, but it's very expensive.

Stopped in randomly for a drink and a snack and loved this place! It's a very welcoming bar with a very casual atmosphere. Got here around 7pm on a weeknight and everyone sitting at the bar was playing along with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on the TV. The bartender was SO incredibly sweet and very attentive to everyone. The other people sitting at the bar were also all very friendly. I got the impression that this bar has a lot of dedicated regulars. The food options are limited...typical bar fare but there were some very intriguing options. I ordered some pierogies and was very impressed! This is a great local hole-in-the-wall place to stop in for a drink!

This is exactly what I look for when I think of a dive bar. The drinks were cheap, the service was quick and friendly, and the place has a nice low key atmosphere. I would come back here for a few drinks anytime.

Sonny's: The Birthplace of Bad Ideas. I walked in and immediately knew this bar was for me. However, I'm an alcoholic. Don't get the shots. Smallest pour in Pittsburgh, probably to keep the locals under control.

Literally no stranger to holes in the wall or "ghetto" bars but came here from cleveland cuz we were in the area after playing a show... literally almost stabbed and stomped out just for walking in this place... If you're white or from out of town...... don't go here. They made it clear we're not welcome.... Ps we were sober and I'm a bartender in the fringes of Cleveland... I'm not some uptight dumb dumb.... Place is sketchy. Good luck.
