I went here with family the other day to pick apples. Simmons is a machine! There were so many cars piling in on the weekend afternoon to get into the orchard and fall festival activities -- it's kind of crazy, but it's organized chaos. We just wanted to pick apples, but there were many more ways to spend time here, including flower picking, the animal petting zoo, and giant slides and the corn maze. If you go, be prepared to spend a while just getting from your car to the orchard to pick. You'll pay by the bag, before entering into the grove, so you'll know exactly what you'll spend and how much you can take home. Enjoy!

Simmons Farm is a family-owned farm that has operated for several decades. They have an on-site store that sells produce that they picked earlier in the day as well as plants such as flowers and Christmas trees. The farm also offers many activities, such as hayrides, apple-picking, flower-picking, pumpkin-picking, a petting zoo, mazes, slides, a butterfly house, etcetera. (See my attached photos to see what activities were available on the day that I went.)My husband and I arrived at 9:30 AM on a Saturday, and the parking lot was already getting full. An employee told us where to park our vehicle. Another employee kindly directed us to the apple orchard, the activity in which we were primarily interested. At the orchard, another employee politely asked us how we were doing and asked us what size of bag we wanted. Currently, the prices for u-pick apples range from $9 for a 1/2 peck (which is ~12-15 apples) to $40 for a bushel (which is ~100 apples). I felt grateful that they accept payment via credit card.My husband and I selected the 1/2 peck of apples. The apples that are ripe on a given day are marked with a yellow rope. On that day, the available apples were Fuji and Querina (a cross between a Golden Delicious and a Jonathan). Many of the trees either had no apples or had apples that were very high up, so my husband and I walked farther into the orchard to find apples. We had fun with finding our apples and pulling them off the branches. The other activity that we did was visiting the petting zoo. The zoo was smaller than we had expected. It had some goats, sheep, and chickens. Feed was available for purchase in the nearby store. At home, we ate the apples. The apples had blemishes, but they were crispy and juicy, and they tasted sweet and tart.

Visiting Pittsburgh and was looking for something to do with my parents and nephews (8 and 3) and this was perfect. The drive there was nice (20 mins from Bridgeville) and the lady who helped me today was super nice. The market itself was nice and clean and we did the "You pick your own peaches ". Minimum requirement is 1/4 peck and cost was $8 an adult. On the way to the peach orchard we passed the Apple orchard. Was a nice walk since today wasn't sunny. Peaches was yummy and we even bought a peach pie a well. Highly recommended. =)

Very nice local farm. Its always great to find delicious local fruits and vegetables from such a spot. I even found some items that brought back nostalgia. The prices are very decent, too. I tried their grapes (very unique), apples, tomatoes, and got some decorative pumpkins as well. The grapes were the most nostalgic item for me. Many people probably won't love them, but these taste very similar to the ones found in my old home in Kreminna. It's probably the closest that I've gotten to Kreminna grapes. The inside is somewhat jelly-like and a bit hard to chew. There are also seeds, so beware. But, the flavor is nice, a bit on the tart side. The apples were quite nice as well. They taste distinctly different from those available at the store, but very good. Not too sweet or too tart. The apples I got were small and miniature. Another thumbs up from me.Tomatoes were significantly larger than what you'd find at the store. Honestly, I'm not such a big fan of huge tomatoes. I'd much rather have smaller but more flavorful tomatoes, like back in my home country. This was a bit of a let down, but still, not bad and definitely better than some store bought varieties. All in all, come here to do some handpicking for vegetables and fruits. The prices are reasonable and you may even save money. The flavors are great and you can feel good about supporting a local farm. They also have activities going on during Halloween, Christmas, and other holidays.

I've begun trying to shop local for groceries and what better way than starting off by going to a local market. I've also been able to save a bit more money!!Each time I go it does not disappoint. I have been able to get the fruits and veggies I am looking for each time. With their produce I have not gotten anything bad and their produce stays fresh for several days after I get them home. I've been able to make some pretty delicious recipes with everything I get from the farm too. Their pies in the cooler look delicious and call my name every time I shop, one of these days temptation is going to take over and I will make sure to update y'all. The staff is also friendly and helpful! Parking is easy and there are plenty of spaces. If you need to use the restroom while there, they are clean.

It's not summertime without a trip to the flower fields at Simmons! What a beautiful array of flowers at an affordable price. Check in at the market, get your bucket and scissors, and head to the field (via car on a dirt farm road)! A photo shoot in the zinnias is icing on the cake. (There's also a lot more to Simmons, so be sure to check their website/social media for what's in season!)

Huge farm! I was concerned by how expensive it was but once I saw how much there was to do I was hooked. My niece loved the mazes, the slides, all of it! They had a decent selection of pumpkins, great food vendors, and still had some flowers left for flower picking. We spent 4 hours there and didn't do everything. We look forward to going back for their fall festival again next year!
