4.5 stars. Shaka is a Hawaiian-fusion restaurant that is part of the City Kitchen food hall. Shaka's menu lists appetizers such as eggrolls and poke wonton nachos and entrees such as poke bowls, kalua pig, teriyaki tofu, and ramens. Prices are moderate.Customers who want to dine inside the restaurant should either order face-to-face from the kitchen or use their cell phones to scan the QR code at their table. Furthermore, customers who want takeout or delivery may use the Toast website or app. I ate one entree from Shaka, the Hawaiian surf and turf, which contained chicken, shrimp, rice, lettuce, and other vegetables. The ingredients were a good quality, and I enjoyed the flavors very much. I would feel happy to try more menu items in the future.

My husband and our friend always loved bed going when it was at Federal Galley. Glad I got to try it at City Kitchen. My friend said she liked the poke bowl. I thought the poke nachos sounded good. When you order at your table there is no way to customize it. It had a lot of stuff on top that I didn't like. Once I removed most of it, it was a bit dry and light on sauce. I also thought the tuna was a bit light too. It was good and I enjoyed it. My husband likes the Kahlua pork. They bring the food very quickly which is nice. I wouldn't mind trying other things there.

I had been here previously when it was in The Federal Galley, but I think the quality (and portion size) has gone done with the prices going up. Their garlic shrimp meal is almost $20 for 5 shrimp and a scoop of rice, which is inadequate.

The food hall here has new places since the change of ownership. The outside seating area is nice and recently upgraded for more space. The service was good and you order food at the table with your phone from a QR code. Shaka has a lot of food asian inspired options and their poke bowls are very filling! I got the dragon poke bowl with half rice and half greens and it was great. The matcha lemonade was good and not overly sweet.

I ordered the spicy salmon poke bowl which is $17. They charge you a card use fee which for me was 54 cents, can choose white or brown rice. This bowl has salmon, edame, rice, red pickled onions, chick peas, and is spicy (truly is spicy). I'm a big spicy eater and asian food lover. (Also can order by QR code on the table or online). My opinion is there are too many edame, very few pieces of raw salmon for the price and you mainly get rice. I think the salmon is delicious and flavorful. The price point is high for not much of a return and barely any ingredients or salmon. Staff nice, environment ok. It would help if someone told you the process of the galley as I had no idea to have table number before ordering which is hard by yourself during work lunch. Also did not know about the water jars and cups or etiquette on leaving dishes on table, etc. I think I'd try something else next time as total being over $20 with tip for rice is crazy.

a nice casual place inside city kitchen!you seat yourself and use a qr code on the tables to order. water, napkins, and extra utensils are available in self-serve stations around the place. if you get confused or can't find the stations, no worries: the staff are so nice!!the poke bowls are on the pricier end but are pretty solid portion sizes overall. don't get the avocado add-on ($1) because you'll get barely a single slice, haha.

I really love poke and was excited to try a bowl from Shaka. Overall, the spicy smoky salmon bowl was not satisfying. I really did not care for the smoky flavor of the salmon and had hoped the flavors from the rest of the dish would balance it out. That was not the case - there wasn't enough flavor from the rest of the ingredients to mask how off-tasting the salmon ended up being and I was left with a half eaten bowl that I gave to my partner as leftovers. I also didn't note any kicks of spice in the dish. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, or maybe I have higher expectations of poke dishes, especially spicy salmon, a dish I almost always like. The spicy Asian fries however were delicious. They tasted very similar if not the same as the fries from Galley Bakery Square. I ended up mostly eating fries and was glad I ordered them to supplement my meal. The fries were so crispy and the sauce was perfect.

I got the spicy smoked salmon bowl & omg!!! So fresh & quality ingredients, it was delicious! Smoked salmon, roe, edamame, chickpeas, pickled veggies, spicy mayo, and I added avocado. I'm still thinking about it. The service was really fast, even during the busy lunch time! I will say the pricing is on the more expensive side but I get it with all of the inflation we're seeing. Wouldn't stop me from going again!

When they were inside the Federal Galley, I always went back to their ramen bowls. They are always delish and so weird, but the spam is one of my favorite additions. It's so unique and I would make it a point to either get ramen or the spam sushi rice they had! I don't think they are there anymore, but I just found this photo from the last time I went a few months ago. Excited to see if they open up a place somewhere else.

I stopped by here a couple of Thursdays ago with my wife and kids for lunch. Since it's one of the concept restaurants inside the Federal Galley, there's not too much to say about the inside other than there are a number of shared tables that you can sit at and you can help yourself to water and plates. One thing that I enjoyed is each table had a QR code you could scan and then order and pay for any or all of the restaurants. From Shaka my wife and I ended up ordering a number of different items to share. That includes the spam musubi, loco moco fries and the miso ramen with shrimp added. I first tried the spamMusubi and thought that it was pretty good. The rice was sticky and the spam cooked nicely which made for a nice and filling snack. Up next was the loco moco fries which the menu described as crispy fries loaded with Hawaiian smoked pulled pork and gravy, mozzarella, scallion and toasted sesame. Now I knew this wasn't going to be a true loco moco which I have had enough times in Hawaii and which should come with a burger and eggs but it sounded good and I figured that I would give it a try. It was indeed good as the fries were super crispy and the pork flavorful while the cheese and gravy added different flavors. With that being said, this felt more like a poutine than a loco moco, but it was still tasty. Last but not least was the ramen which was mostly my wife's meal. Still I was able to taste the broth which I enjoyed and the noodles were nice as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed all of the food that we had and it gave us a small taste of Hawaii in Pittsburgh.
