How have I never rated this place?Remember when it was The Muse?Remember when it was The Highlander?I do!!Small, non-descript dive bar in the heart of Shadyside that provides comfort, friendship, and good drinks!Amazing service for the last three decades (that I've been a sometimes patron)!

If you like dive bars, you'll love this place. It's quiet, with super cheap, but strong drinks.

I don't have a whole lot to say about Hideaway. It is an old school dive bar hidden away from Highland Ave. They have a very limited draft beer selection and do not serve food. We came here to watch the Pens a couple of weeks back. It was fine that they don't have food as there are plenty of options to order food from outside places in which they don't have a problem with. There was only one bartender that I saw working the whole place, and she was a bit rough around the edges. Overall not too bad, cheap for the area. Not somewhere most people would want to go but if you want to grab a cheap drink, watch a local sporting event, and don't care much about ambiance you may have just found your place.

This bar kind of seems like a basement or garage where you would get drunk in high school. The atmosphere is non-existent; it's kind of dank and creepy. Despite the prime location, there were literally no other groups here when I was here. Still, they were generous with the pours on shots so I guess it could be worse. If you just want somewhere to sit and watch a game, this bar might work out for you, but if you're hoping to have a fun, social time, I would go elsewhere.

It's a dive bar - it's a little hole in the wall with a few seats (inside and outside) with some typical bar games like darts. The drinks are cheap, they're a little heavy handed, and the bartenders are nice.I give it 4 stars but I really enjoy lowkey dive bars. I like quiet places where I can just have a cheap drink with friends. If you're looking for a bar that has more amenities, this probably isn't the best choice for you

Not quite divey enough to be comfy, just kind of weird. You have to go through a tunnel to get to the door and the whole place is weirdly island themed. Kind of like a dive bar dressed up as Margaritaville. I agree with what another reviewer said about the signage-- the cute neon sign is pleasing but misleading. The bartender was meh, the people were meh. It was a weekend night but the place was still pretty empty. Definitely not a place I want to go again.

Had an amazing experience after a hard days work. This might be my favorite happy hour bar. It's a neat little spot tucked away on Highland ave. No joke I felt at home as soon as I got there. The bartender was one of the coolest dudes I ever met. Very affordable and they went above and beyond to keep the drinks coming and a lot of laughs. Because of its location you get an amazing crowd. The bartender at some times had 2 people and the next minute he had 20. The guy didn't miss a beat. Me and my boys love partying and this is a great place to start your drinking journey. Shout out to the bearded bartender. See you guys soon. They also got a sick ass dartboard.

This is a cozy, little, dive bar set back from toney Highland Avenue. The drinks were cheap, the bartender made good on the inaccurate, day-old, advertised specials, and it proved to be a good stop on a pub crawl. The bar seats about 4. I've eyed it for years and am glad to have tried it.

I can't believe I haven't left a review for hideaway yet! This is our local bar - you know, like Mac'Laren's in HIMYM or Cheers (from the show Cheers if you've ever heard of it ;). We first went there when all there was was a folding sign outside by the ice cream place. We walked the tiny little alley to the back and were worried we were trespassing in someone's backyard! As we retraced our steps, the Bartender happened to be walking back and showed us the way. Nowadays there's plenty of signage and lights leading to the back. We love hideaway because it's a dive bar that's been done up nice and is clean and Jen the bartender is a sweetheart. It totally has its regulars (outside of us) that give it even more of a local Pittsburgh vibe. Though we dominate the dart board when we're there, they also have pub trivia TV thingy and non-paying slots (just for fun). They've also started having karaoke and a live DJ on some nights. Hideaway is the perfect place to get away from the pretentiousness of shadyside and just hang out.

Nice little dive bar. It's more of a place you go with your friends and maybe not your girlfriend. Always be prepared for some great stories and some interesting people.
