Selamis Turkish Kebab House

This place completely surprised me. When we went, the place was pretty empty on a Friday night so I wasn't 100% sure but the food was amazing. Got the platter that included all their different meats and each of them had so much flavor and was perfectly cooked.

My sister Vi and I got the lamb shish kebabs! They were amazing! The meat was so moist and succulent, and perfectly seasoned. We also loved their refreshing salads. The rice pilaf was super tasty. We got nice hot pitas to dip in the AMAZING hummus and baba ganoush we ate. The hummus was the best I've ever tasted. All of the food is so fresh and yummy. The stuffed grape leaves were so good. Also, we got the baklava for dessert and it didn't disappoint! We will be ordering food from this place for years to come!

Lovely Turkish place with good Kabobs. We ate in, and the service was very accommodating and wanted to make sure we understood the menu. Kabobs and meze were both tasty and filling.

Very, very delicious Turkish food served here. I believe the owner of Selamis is the same as Turkish Kebab House and Aspendos, but I can't compare the three yet (although now I want to try them all out). This was still up there are some of the best Turkish food in the area. I ordered the labne/labneh haydari, pita, and rice pudding.I've hard haydari lebneh at another local Turkish spot, Turkish Grille, and I enjoy Selami's version a bit more. It looked exactly like it did on the photos. They use a generous amount of nuts (walnuts), it's nice and creamy, a bit salty, but not oily. I also like the little bit of herbal flavor in it. The portion was a little small, but the quality was definitely very high.The pita was somewhat standard, but it's always nice to get some free bread so can't really complain there. They did only give me one piece of bread, but it was quite fresh and still soft.The rice pudding was surprisingly delicious. At first, there was a top layer with a strange texture on it (it felt like jello). But, after I took a bite, I feel in love. It was very creamy, mildly sweet, and just perfect. I ended up enjoying the slightly harder top layer with the cinnamon.All in all, I definitely recommend trying this place out if you're in the mood for Turkish food in this region. The food comes in slightly smaller portions than you may be used to for takeout, but the food is very high quality.

I'm far from an expert on Turkish food but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here! It was rather late on a Sunday and were welcomed warmly. The food and service were totally on point! Our server was polite and helpful.For starters we had the Babaganoush and the Grape Leaves and they each were delicious. The Kabab plates were great too. And the Brown Top Pudding is worth going for all by itself.We will be back to try more!

Right next to Giant Eagle, amazing Mediterranean food spot! I got the chicken and lamb gyro, was extremely fresh and filling for an extremely reasonable cost! Having lived in Turkey for seven years, we are always on the lookout for authentic Turkish food in the States. Discovered this place after our son moved to Pittsburgh and we LOVED it! Vedat abi was a perfect host--Turkish hospitality at its finest--and the food? Oh my goodness...amazing! A lot of US-based Turkish places have to settle for American equivalents on some dishes, but everything we had was fully-authentic: Chicken and Lamb kebabs, ayran, Turkish coffee & tea, and baklava for dessert. Made us pretty homesick...but the opportunity to eat Turkish food & enjoy Turkish conversation was well worth it. My son plans to return very soon to show the place off to friends--and I will definitely return the very next time I'm in town for a visit! Vedat abi, hayırlı olsun! Hepsini mükkemel'dir! Çok memnun oldum!

If you have not worked there or don't have friends working there, do not try to book a party there! I called in and spoke to some gentleman who took all my information for my birthday celebration: my name, phone number, day and time of celebration, and count of people. When I asked if he wants my card number for deposit, he said no, just stop by to drop off deposit when I will get a chance. If no deposit, it's ok, too. I thought it is a bit strange but ok. I stopped by this Friday since I was close by. We talked about the menu and other details and I asked about deposit. I was told there is no need. Today I got a call that someone else who used to work there got the party before me and there is no evidence of me ever talking to anybody. Now I guess I know why nobody took the deposit from me. Extremely unprofessional and will never ever again suggest this place to anyone.

The lamb and rice was perfectly cooked. The seasonings and sauces were delicious. Turkish coffee and rice pudding for dessert were also excellent. The server was very nice and welcoming. It's easy to recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

We ordered the Shish kebab and the chicken kebabs and I have to say that they are the best I have had in Pittsburgh!! The waiter is so polite and kind. The tea is perfect!! I couldn't ask for a better experience!
