*This farm has limited hours of operation, so please visit their website to see their hours.*4.5 stars. Schwirian Farm is a family-owned 78-acre farm. In 2020, they opened their sunflower fields to the public so visitors could pick and photograph sunflowers. In 2024, I planned to attend their sunflower festival, but they had to cancel it because deer ate about 100,000 of their 500,000 flowers. As of now, the family plans to reopen their farm to the public in July 2025.In the meantime, I visited their website to browse their online store. The store offers a few dozen products, including sunflower oils, sunflower moisturizers, sunflower soap, candles, alpaca socks, and angora-wool socks. I bought one pair of their alpaca socks for $25 plus about $3 shipping. A few days later, the farm shipped my socks via the USPS. One day later, the postal employee delivered the package to me. The farm's website says that I am supposed to wash the socks in cold water and air-dry them. Unfortunately, I accidentally put these socks in with my other laundry in the washer and dryer. I felt thankful that the socks did not shrink, and they still fit my feet. My feet get cold at night, and these socks kept my feet warm.

Always a treat. Today, Saturday July 22, 2023, was opening day for this year's festival. It runs thru July 30 and is open from 8 am to 8pm. Parking is $3 in the field across the street. There are vendors for tshirts, sunflower oil, food and whatnots. You can pick your own sun flowers for a very small fee and there are photographers. You may roam around the fields and take your own photos which is why i come.Plus, it simply is a great mood lifter, especially when the fields reach their peak bloom.Go, have fun, and smile!

Enjoyed our visit to the sunflower fields. Parking across the road for a fee - on a hillside. Entrance to fields also a bit steep, so if you have any mobility issues, be prepared. I took my walking stick, which helped a lot!

This year was Schwirian Farm's 2nd annual sunflower festival (which was held in July). Being my favorite flower, I couldn't wait to see them! They were absolutely gorgeous and made for lovely photo opportunities! The festival also featured some vendors which I learned they sold out of the sunflower oil they were selling. This is in the Monongahela area and just beautiful! Looking for a relaxing evening to enjoy the farm and sunflowers? Look no further and check out this festival each July!

Second year coming here and have had an amazing experience each time! I highly recommend if you are in Pittsburgh in July next year that you follow them on facebook to see when blooms will be before the harvest.

Beautiful fields and sunflowers, horrible client experience. Bald gentleman who I think is named Jay is extremely rude and scary to customers. He will threaten to revoke your pictures if you do not park as he approves. Keep in mind there are no handicap signs or no parking here signs. I will never recommend anyone to come here. Stick to Simmons or Trax Farms. So disappointed in the interaction we have with him.
