Schantz Haus

Quiet, clean, and verdant, Schantz Haus makes for a comfortable and convenient getaway. The owners, Jeanette and Bill, are warm, friendly and, excellent hosts.The B&B is on an acitve farm - which the owners kindly provided a touer of - with cattle and pigs and vast stretches of crops both on and off the farm. There are multiple rooming options, including a self-contained annexe where we stayed during our trip.Davidsville has a quiet, rural setting and makes for pleasant, long drives. Ohiopyle, Mason-Dixon line, and Fallingwater are some of the nearby attractions.

Sorry this is late. My wife and I have stayed at the Schantz Haus on several occasions the circumstances were not always the best for us since both my parents passed. We can however recommend it highly. It is not the most elegant B&B, but keep in mind it is a working dairy farm. Jeanette and her husband Bill were super hosts, the home was extremely clean and the breakfasts were the BEST! Eating breakfast with the family was fun, Especially the children, they looked so much like real Deutsch Kinder.

This is our 5th B&B stay in PA, and Schantz Haus is by far the best. The house is spacious and so clean! Bed sheets were fine Egyptian cotton. The farm and neighborhood are so safe and peaceful to walk or run around. We enjoyed the clean country air. The hostess truly has a talent for making people feel welcome. My 2 teens loved to help feed the calves and swing on the porch. Keep in mind this is a 100-yr-old house, with antiques, and modern updates; it is not the Ritz, it is an entirely wonderful and unique place. Breakfast was gourmet.

This was our first stay and definitely will not be our last. We spent 5 days here and we hated to leave. First and foremost the owners are wonderful people. They couldn't do enough to make you feel at home. When you walked into your rooms it felt like you stepped back in time. The beds were so comfortable. Both my husband and i had the best 5 nights sleep there. The rooms were spotless. The food was out of this world. Jeanette's crepes with peaches and cream cheese is a must. The best part of the stay was sitting out on the porch and watching the animals, listening to the roosters, watching the kittens play by the barn. My husband and I would like to thank this wonderful family for making us feel like a part of the family. We can't wait to make another trip to PA so we can experience this stay again. My wife and I try to stay here every time we come back to Conemaugh township. The rates are as good if not better than most hotels in the area and none of the free breakfasts at those hotels even remotely compares to breakfast from Mrs. Huntzberger. If you are just traveling through the area, the Shantz Haus is located conveniently just off of Rt. 219 in Davidsville, PA.

Jeanette and Bill run one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed in. Rooms are great, clean, and quiet. The breakfasts can't be beat. Highly recommended; if you are ever in the area of Johnstown, this is the place to stay.
