Portions were every bit as much worth the dollars spent, definitely good taste and definitely very filling . If you think their prices are high, your wrong because they make up for it in their food. So stop in to the sawmill and enjoy

UPDATE: this place is just the worst these days. The service is terrible, orders are always wrong, always someone to give you some attitude when you point it out. Never again.I go here often while at camp and it's pretty good diner type food. I usually get a grilled chicken sandwich which is pretty basic and pretty good but a bit smallFor the price. Actually, everything is a bit overpriced for stuff that's not all made from scratch. Mashed potatoes are instant. They have a variety of food to choose from and also great soft serve

We stopped in on Father's Day for ice cream sundaes. The prices were great, the ice cream sundaes were great, everything was great! I got a marshmallow peanut butter sundae and I will go back again, next time we are at my in-laws place!

Wow, way over priced for what you get, and always kids working here who are typically rude. Haven't been back since.

Walked inn and had to order food from counter. Just missed breakfast and they would not serve it. We left. Looking for a good 'open' Resturant now. The adventure continues.

We stopped at the Sawmill for breakfast on our way out and about during a camping trip. The cute guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful. This place has an unusual combo of sit-down restaurant on one side ( kind of diner style, counter short order) and walk up dairy bar window). We both had the biscuits and sawmill gravy with a scrambled egg on the side. Everything was fresh and made from scratch and pretty decent. The egg was overdone for my taste but flavorful. The coffee and tea are good. All in all.. Just a good old fashioned mom and pop chow house.

I'm a fan. My family often comes here from Cook Forest on camping trips. I've only ever come for breakfast, but it's always been good, with large portions. I can never finish the pancakes. It's not something you haven't had before, but it's good, it's reliable, and it's close to the park. The ice cream is also pretty good, if not spectacular. Still, I've always enjoyed my time here, and I think it's worth a stop, especially if you're vacationing in Cook Forest.

I am a local who used to love the Sawmill. Their food was great and decently priced. Unfortunately I think COVID has turned this place into an overpriced tourist trap just so they can stay open. I was recently shocked to see their prices have gone way up and the quality of their food, including the ice cream, has taken a nosedive. It's icy and grainy and made of cheap bottom of the barrel soft serve mix. They are also the only place I know that charges an extra dollar for sprinkles. To add insult to injury, they are extra stingy with the sprinkles too. Until things change there aren't many reasons for me to return here. That being said, the staff are decently friendly.

This place has gotten so much worse over time. Used to be great camp food. Recently visited and waited over an hour. They came to my table 40 minutes after ordering asking what I ordered. After over an hour my burger was doused in an ocean of mayonnaise and the fries hardly even tasted like potatoes. Never even got an apology for the wait. Used to be my favorite restaurant in the area, won't be visiting again.

My family and I took a weekend trip up to the Cook Forest area, so we decided to eat at some of the local food establishments. I don't have anything amazing to say about this place, but I also don't have anything terrible to say about it either. The decor is cute and fits the town/area. You walk in and you order your food at the counter. I have no problems with that, except the kid at the counter wasn't very personable. As a matter of fact, he didn't say anything at all to us while we were ordering. He only wrote down the order, typed it in the register and spoke the total that we owed for the meal. Not even a "hello" when we walked up, or even cracked a smile. Maybe he had a bad day, or maybe he is always like this, but customer service could definitely use a bit of improvement. Always improves the quality of a restaurant whenever you see smiling, happy faces in the environment. My only other general complaint would be the rest rooms. First of all, the hallway to get to them is basically a crawl space. I almost didn't think they had bathrooms until someone in my family pointed them out. I walked towards the restrooms and had to turn around and walk back out because someone else was coming out of the hallway and it can barely fit one person, let alone two. LOL. The food was definitely over priced for the quality, but it wasn't terrible. I had a salad with grilled chicken. It wasn't anything out of this world, but I definitely enjoyed it.On the plus side, they have amazing soft serve ice cream!! I would definitely recommend coming here for a nice dessert.
