The restaurant has just opened this past week. We had been looking forward to it as we love good Asian cuisine. The place is pretty spartan, but appears to be moving in the right direction with regard to ambiance. It's bright inside, there are a few dine-in tables. It was clean, and well maintained. The staff were very responsive to questions about their offerings, they seem very friendly and polite. The food was pretty good. We had the sashimi sampler, which had white tail, tuna and salmon, fresh and delicious. The shrimp shumai were tasty but tiny. We also loved the chicken udon noodles. It was made with bok choy, cloud ear mushrooms, and strips of steamed chicken breast. (Most places just toss in broccoli and carrots, so it was a nice difference.) The sweet potato roll was excellent. It was crispy and sweet. Try it with the owners secret wasabi mayo (he makes it himself), it's a very nice flavor contrast. The city roll was also nice. I would have liked it to have been more aggressively spicy, but it was still very tasty. We will be back for the Bento lunch specials. (We will definitely provide an update. They sound promising.). Two people, two appetizers, two rolls, an additional entree and two sodas, with tax and tip were just under $50. Very affordable for a night out. It would have helped the ambiance to have had some Asian music playing, and maybe some softer lighting. But this is a new establishment, and the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff tells me they will have a lot of opportunities to grow and improve. We really like having a sushi/fusion restaurant so close to home! So, keep up the good work!!

I was in McKeesport and craving sushi but didn't want to drive to my typical spot so I turned to Yelp to see if there was anything new nearby. I was surprised to see that Sakura was so close and with the good Yelp reviews I decided to place an online order. We had the Cajun pepper tuna tataki, spicy girl roll, salmon skin salad, king roll and California roll. They were all tasty and everything was fresh. Perfect level of spice on the Cajun pepper tuna. Prices are very reasonable especially compared to other sushi restaurants. The dine in atmosphere has some room to grow but they are new and I'd rather a restaurant dedicate it's development to food first. We will definitely order again and spread the word about this gem.

We were riding along the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail, and stopped for lunch here. The Bento box was fantastic. The portions were generous, the cost reasonable, and the flavors wonderful. The owner let you bring your bike inside. This is a new restaurant in town and I would go back again the next time.
