If you are from the Johnstown area you are well aware of Roxberry Creamery. We were lucky enough to come here on opening day. Johnstown is always late to the weather game and the weather that day was not the most ice cream friendly weather to begin with. That did not deter us from getting some ice cream.The unique thing about this place is that you can get your ice cream two different ways. You can use their drive up window and get it to go, or you can park in the lot and adjacent lot and get it to enjoy there. They have a few tables around outside, some near the back of the lot and some on a deck with umbrellas for coverage from the sun. Or you can take your ice cream and enjoy the park that this business borders.When we arrived we attempted to use the drive up window, but unless you already know what you wanted to get while here it's not a great idea. The menu is visible, but only to the driver's side of the car. Because of this I had no clue what they offered and we ended up pulling out of that lane and parking. Walked up to the window and made our order. Right after we ordered we were receiving an apology because no one was initially at the window. We explained why we pulled away from the window and found out that the person we were talking to was the owner of the business. He absolutely loves what he is doing. Not only does he run the ice cream business but he runs an insurance business out of the same building. He bought the place from the original owner and told us he worked there prior. When the original owner was closing up shop and wanting to sell he bought it.Onto the ice cream. Amazing. I got what they call a Flurry. Think Blizzard from DQ. Kit Kats blended in with my ice cream and it was a chocolate on vanilla bliss treat. They somehow nailed the candy to ice cream ratio.A thing to note, it is cash only. Don't forget to bring cash or stop elsewhere before heading here. I was told that there is a business across the street that offers a ATM.

If you are driving through Johnstown this is a great place to stop for a treat. Located next to Roxbury Park this is a great place to stop when before of after a baseball game. The girls that work there are fun and interactive and the ice cream is thick and ..... well Creamy!!! Got milkshakes and a "razzle." (their version of a blizzard) Everything was very good with chunks of banana, cherry, blueberry and pineapple. They offer soft serve and hand dipped ice creams with many options. Two milkshakes and a razzle for under $10.00. Absolutely will visit this ice cream shop again.

I love me some homemade ice cream and this is my retreat for sweet treats Y'all. Every week they have new flavors of homemade soft serve or homemade hard ice cream. The texture and pure creaminess of the ice cream make every calorie worth it. I look forward to trying the new flavors each week. Today they had my favorite lime in the coconut. Just enough sweet coconut to compliment the tart lime and leaves my lips a smackin bite after bite. You cant go wring with any of their flavors. Another fave of mine is Gobs of vanilla. Creamy vanilla ice cream with chunks of real homemade gob infused (that's a whoopie pie if you're not from Western PA). Mmm mmm. MMMMMThey also have healthy options to choose from such as soft serve homemade frozen yogurt. Many varieties of cool treats and hot eats can be purchased and theres something to please everyone. The great part about this location is it sits right in the middle of beautiful Roxbury park. With walking trails so you can burn everyone of those calories as fast as you can infuse them!!!!PS.... This is no Dairy Queen!!!!!

If you haven't stopped here, you need to...it's hand dipped ice cream it its finest. I guess they have yogurt and drinks, but honestly, I haven't gotten past the flavors that roll off that scoop! Triple vanilla, amaretto cheesecake, five chocolate....I don't know where to begin. And you can get a regular cone, but why not just go for the home made waffle cone and be totally happy. You can get the ice cream in containers to take home too...what a deal. The owner has a shop in Ligioner, too. And he's delightful. You gotta try it! Yum.
