I mean the bar was busy but not crazy busy.I stood at the middle of the bar , leaning against it for nearly 7 minutes without being acknowledged.A tall guy walks in off the street, literally stands next to me and immediately gets waited on.Disappointing.

This place was so welcoming and chill we went here twice while in Pittsburgh for Friday & Saturday night shows at the Roxian Theater. There aren't many other choices if you want food & drink right nearby, and Rocks Landing may not look like much when you first walk in. However the staff were all really nice, bartender gave generous pours and the food is so, so good! Homey Southern classics like chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and their trademark dish of turkey ribs are all excellent. And you have to get the greens as a side - they were easily the best we'd ever had! Soon as we told the bartender that, the chef came out to thank us and tell us how he makes them.So if you're going to a show at the Roxian, definitely consider Rocks Landing for a stop before or after the show.

Stopped in here before a concert and was not expecting much based on the look from the outside. Despite this, my wife and I ended up having a great time. The outside area was a great setup for the nice weather. We sat outside, had some drinks, and talked to others waiting to go into the concert. The service was really great too. All of the bartenders and staff were super friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stop back!

It's the 4th of July. I ordered a Cheeseburger, Fries, and Mac & Cheese (cause, you know... America) on Grubhub at 8:45. The order said it would show up by around 9:30-9:45. I hope it gets here before the fireworks get going so I can watch them from my attic window. I'm playing a video game that decided to kick my butt a bit, and next thing I know I'm hearing fireworks. I track the order. Low and behold, the delivery arrival time has changed to 10:45. Um... Kay. So. I go to the attic and discover that the fire works I heard were the FINALE! So now I'm thinking this food better be good, right? I'll never know. Because someone from Rock's called to inform me that "The cooking crew wanted to close up early for the night, so they will not be cooking your order."Now, this person who called me was a man who didn't sound too sorry or sympathetic. No. The tone of his speech was that of a teenage boy nonchalantly telling his parents that he's irresponsible and he's Ok with that. I asked him if they were not open when I made the order. He reiterated, "The cooking crew decided to turn in early. So they won't be making your food." I asked him if he was the manager. He said "Yes, I am from Rock's, we have cancelled your order. You'll get a full refund. And we are giving you $5 bucks on your next order."I kept on waiting for him to give me something that would rectify the fact that, because of them, I missed the fireworks, alone, while my wife and newborn child are with my In-Laws, because I stayed home to work on a room construction for 8 hours straight on the 4th of July! I waited, even though my arm felt like jelly just holding the phone. But... I just kept hearing different versions of, "The Cooking Crew Decided Their Jobs Aren't Important So They Decided To Go Be With Their Family And Look At Fireworks!"So, I hung up. I looked up places that are still open. It's 10:10PM at this point... On FOURTH OF JULY! Do you think any restaurants are open at this time on the 4th of July? Of course you don't. Because they're not.In case you're wondering, this is how the rest of my 4th of July is going. I waited silently in a chair for a bit to give my arm a rest. Then I tried to leave a bad review on Rock's GrubHub Page. Ha! The order has to have gone through to be able to review them. Silly me. Now I am here in my hot attic, typing up this review and editing it, hoping for some firework residuals from the neighbors, at 11:45PM. I have a Tombstone Pizza and Three Frozen Hamburger Patties (no cheese or bread). Those are my choices for anything resembling dinner tonight.Yay, America.

Damn! I feel like I've been transported! Want an escape to New Orleans for an evening? Go to Rock's Landing in McKees Rocks for a few hours. We visited on a Sunday evening and were treated to awesome jazz, very friendly service and tasty southern noms. Ever heard of turkey ribs? Me neither, moist, delicious, and oh so tasty. A very good time indeed, we'll be back.

Truly a best kept secret! I am a fairly picky eater and found the grilled chicken to be very tasty and cooked perfectly. You will not find chicken cooked to this perfection anywhere in Pittsburgh. The 2 sides I chose were cabbage and greens. So scrumptious and vinegary and flavorful! Nothing was over-salted either. Where can you go and hear professional jazz music while dining (and at no charge!) What a fun way to spend a Sunday evening. The icing on the cake was P.K. walking me out to my car to be sure I was safe. I will definitely be going back! Glad to hear that you are expanding!

What a hidden gem in McKees Rocks. Rocks has quality food for affordable prices. The menu isn't huge, but what they offer is fantastic. The bar prices and service are also unbeatable. Make sure to try the wings and all of the sauces!!

I stopped here a few months back, when I was buzzing through McKees Rocks. Interesting place, although not in a particularly good way. It was only opening as I walked up to it, at 7pm. Evidently they basically exist for the people attending events at the Roxian music venue across the street, and their events are virtually all in the evening. The bar is narrow but long, opening into a second room with tables, and access to an outdoor patio, which I didn't check out because it was winter. I don't know what kind of food program they, but I had seen on Yelp that they do indeed have food. No draft beer, only bottles and cans, which always surprises me as there's a higher profit margin on draft, but to each their own. I got a plain old Miller Light, and it was pricey. The one shining note was the bartender; she was very pleasant and nice to talk with. Now, here's the kinda scary part: I was told that the bar is only open to folks over the age of 40 after a certain time at night, because they've had so many problems with the younger people at night. It is McKees Rocks, and they are not located in a nicer part of the area. That was enough for me to hear, so it was one-and-done for me, and for that reason, I won't go back.
