This place is a gem. The waitresses and owner are super people. Everyone here is courteous and friendly. The food is very good. We love the soup and salad bar. The prices are excellent and very affordable. It's a great mom and pop type of business. Nothing fancy but very down home and friendly. Love this place.

My wife and I were in the area last week, and she thought this place looked like a cute diner, so we decided to stop in for dinner. First off, the restaurant only accepts cash or check, no credit cards, which was fine. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a pleasant woman and told we could seat ourselves.Once we got the menus, things started to go downhill. This place clearly puts an emphasis on cheap food, and most of the food options come with a very sad looking soup and salad bar. I ordered a philly cheesesteak sandwich and my wife got meatloaf with mashed potatoes. I initially ordered fries with my sandwich, but then waitress pointed out to me that they had fresh, homemade mac and cheese, so I decided to try that instead. While we were waiting, we decided to go up to the salad bar. The biggest problem here is that none of the items were covered. Even the pots of soup were just sitting there without any sort of cover or lid. My wife got a salad, which she said wasn't bad, but the chicken noodle soup was disgusting. It had a bit of a fishy taste to it, which doesn't make any sense. The food came out rather quickly and looked very lack-luster. My wife's meatloaf and mashed potatoes tasted like a salisbury steak TV dinner. My sandwich was a large portion, but was mediocre at best. I got grilled mushrooms, which cost extra, and it looked like that just heated up some canned mushrooms and poured them on top. The "homemade" mac and cheese looked disgusting and tasted like Hamburger Helper without the ground beef.Shortly after leaving, my wife and I both started feeling ill...It is safe to say that I will NEVER go back to the Roadside Restaurant again.

I do not know how this place isn't booming with business. First off: the staff is so friendly. I swear we were greated by everyone who was working. They were happy and pleasent. Great with my friends kids as well. Second off: their food is CHEAP. We paid about 9 dollars for a 4 course meal. Soup and salad bar. Dessert and an entree! Most importantly though: the food. One of the best meals I have eaten in a LONG time. I seriously cannot get over how good the food was. You cannot beat this quality of food at the price. The soup is homemade everyday. I could've eaten just soup and left happy. The salad bar doesn't have as many toppings as most other places, but everything was fresh! I will recommend this place to everyone that I meet. It was fantastic!

This place is cheap. Cheap everything including quality of food. There are fast food options that have better quality. First off they are cash only come on now who is cash only anymore? They have handwritten strange signs all over the entry. The menu was put together using a label maker and copy machine with unrecognizable pictures. The salad bar is sad and everything on it was at room temperature except for the over cooked soggy slimy peas cause they were in a crock pot. Even the ketchup was a generic brand. My cheeseburger tasted like the meat was spoiled then frozen for 20 years served with greasy soggy fries. That's after the waitress talked me out of the roast beef sandwich. Everything from the decor, music, menu, food was outdated cheap and unappealing. I would of rather paid a bit more money and had better food than wasting money on a burger I spit into my napkin. No wonder when we drive by there are hardly any cars in the lot. I'm not sure how this place is still in business. Worst meal in a very long time. We felt queasy even before me left.

This is your typical mom and pop style diner. They only accept cash or check, however, there is a gas station across the road if you need to get to an ATM. A man greeted us and knew instantly that we were first timers. Our server was a very sweet lady who was very helpful. We went for dinner but from scanning the entire menu, I have to say It is a bit small with only two breakfast choices....special #1 or special #2. On the upside, you don't have to worry about having too many options! If the server doesn't tell you, don't forget to ask what the daily special is- it's usually something they don't have advertised anywhere. On the day we went, it was stuffed peppers. Their soup and salad bar was good. Contrary to another review, the chicken noodle soup was AMAZING.... All four people in my party were in love with it. I could have made a meal from just their soup alone. The meal itself was good, nothing to complain about except for the mashed potatoes. You could tell they were not fresh potatoes, but for what you pay, you cant expect everything to be top quality, 5 star resturaunt meals. Plus, with endless soup, salad, and fresh Italian bread included with every meal, you certainly will not leave here hungry! I will definitely be coming back soon.

Quality American style food for a great price. The staff is very hardworking and remarkably quick. It may not seem like much from the outside but you will not be disappointed with your meal or dining experience. Roadside is well worth your visit. Cash Only.

A hidden treasure in Belle Vernon. After hours of driving, the wife and I ended up here. We were pleasantly surprised! She had kielbasa with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. I had chicken parmesan on spaghetti.Dinners include the salad bar and soup.Delicious chicken noodle soup! The salad bar is a little limited, but the wife had coconut cream pie, which was wonderful. Also, a very comfortable and quiet atmosphere.Just remember that they don't take credit cards, but the prices are very reasonable.
