Ricci Italian Sausage

We've been buying hot sausage and kielbasa here for years. The hot sausage patties are great. Flavorful and not too spicy. We recently got some kielbasa and was highly disappointed. The casing was incredibly tough. It was actually inedible. We had to peel the casing off to be able to eat it.

Great meatball and sausage sandwiches hot for lunch! They have other hot daily specials as well. Frozen sauce and dinner items and great fresh sausage. Hidden gem.

I just happened to be nearby and saw this place and checked reviews really quick to learn it's highly recommended, so I stopped in. The staff was very friendly and helpful and explained what they offer, of which, I ordered a spicy sausage sandwich. They quickly made one and I was out the door to eat in the car. It tasted great! Sausage was nicely seasoned, but far from spicy. The sauce was really good and the bread was soft. I'd definitely stop in again when in the area for a sandwich!

We have gone to Ricci's for years. They by far have the best meatballs and sausage anywhere. Anyone who has had them has loved them. We had a family party last August with my family from OH and WA when my godson moved here. Everyone absolutely loved both the sausage and peppers and meatballs in sauce. They said they were by far the best meatballs and sausage they had ever had. The meatballs cooked in sauce for a few hours make them taste amazing. They are so tender, soft and delicious. Sometimes, we go there to get their meatball sandwiches which are absolutely amazing too. They have a nice store there with so many wonderful things. Definitely check them out if you want them to cook for you or you want to take their food home and cook it yourself.If you love Italian food, this is the place for you. It's a hidden gem.

This is a difficult review to right. I used to come here almost once a week for sausage and lunch. I used to love the food and the ladies that work there but once I started going around to other local meat places, I soon realized that while good,, it was lacking some flavor. Add that I was already on the cusp, the owner is just not pleasant. He will often come out of nowhere to either talk to "his friends " and hold up the line because it's ok when he dose it, or snap at you if you are not moving fast enough. While I do encourage everyone to try it at least once. I think I shall at the very least some time away.

Awesome family owned homemade sausage business! A lot of local restaurants use Ricci's in their menu items. Delicious food and very friendly. We have Ricci's regularly and they never disappoint! They have daily specials - I love their lasagna and their Mac n cheese - always get the hot sausage sandwich on Mancini bread :-). In addition to the hot foods you can get there - they sell bulk sausage, their homemade sauces and pastas in their frozen section. Go and support this local business - they're amazing

Just an update since they moved a couple of years ago. Still the best Italian Sausage in the Burgh! Best Italian Sausage in the Burgh! Great to use for sandwiches, spaghetti or grilling. They also have sandwiches (sausage, meatballs) to eat in or take out. Of course I had to get a sandwich to go since it was lunch time, my Stuffed Banana Peppers sandwich was out of the world. Sausage is not greasy with natural casings. Bought a 5 lb ring to cook for our BBQ this week. You may have seen Ernie Ricci on Cooking with Chris Fennimore on Qed. Many restaurants in Pittsburgh use Ricci's sausage. Some days you can watch them make the sausage thru a window.

WOW !If your in Pittsburgh, this is a must stop family business !Very easy to locate using the Waze App.We drove to PGH yesterday and wanted to get some sausage and lasagna and meatballs and their sauce and we are so glad we did !We are impressed, I called the day prior to reserve a few squares of their lasagna and the gentleman called us back to confirm, I believe he is the owner. Such a nice individual !We arrived and the store is small but it's packed with phenomenal homemade foods .... and bulk sausage !We got some hot food to eat in the truck and had to go back in for more that's how delicious it was. We got a few meatballs with sauce which is hands down the flavorful I've ever had and the sprinkle of cheese really put this over the top ... it was excellent !!We also had the meatball and cheese sandwich on fresh Italian rolls and this was absolutely killer !We took home a box of the Italian hot sausage, Italian sweet sausage, sauce and a few hot meatballs which got eaten as soon as we got back home last night. Oh so good with fresh Italian bread from Mancini's and butter !We also brought home some sausage stuffed banana peppers to have this week with our only container of sauce we bought ! We can't wait !Our only regret was we should have bought more meatballs and lasagna to bring home and freeze for a later date. (We live about 270 miles away).The gentleman and his family and staff are so friendly and nice to talk with. They made us feel so welcomed !In today's world there are not many of these family owned businesses remaining and hopefully Ricci's stay around for many, many more years because they got our business for life .. Every time we get back to PGH we will always stop here but will be bringing much more food home to enjoy !Thank You for some amazing food !

The lasagna is truly magical .. Wednesday and Saturdays. You can call ahead and get a piece set aside too before they run out!!!
