Overpriced and not amazing in any way . I make better in my crock pot at home . Thy are trying to offer a family friendly atmosphere but are charging prices that make it impossible for people in this area to afford that aren't in the top five percent .

Great bbq, portions aren't as big as you would expect but still reasonable. Every side that I had was delicious.

As a former resident of Austin, Texas I don't think I'd qualify Red's as Texas BBQ but it's close and definitely good. I've now visited twice and had the ribs both times. I also had the mac and cheese both times not because it's amazing but because they lack veggie sides. They don't have green beans, collard greens, or corn. The mac and cheese tend to be sticky and dry from sitting in the heater box. Adding a little milk and reheating does it great justice. As far as the meats the chicken was my least favorite. That being said, I'm very critical of my chicken as it's my preferred protein. Most often it's dry and that's the case here, the seasoning seemed like an afterthought or maybe that's because of the dryness. Their brisket and pulled pork were both solid choices. The pulled pork is tender with a great bun if you get a sandwich and the brisket is hearty and smokey. There was no question as to lean or fatty so that's a Texas classic that was missed. Regardless it was still great as far as Pittsburgh vicinity BBQ.The atmosphere of this place is a bar that also has gambling and tables for the bbq joint. One time I visited they had live music outside. It seems like a great community gathering spot but I've only ever had takeout.

Sign on front door states masks must be work; two people standing over food were NOT wearing masks. Turned around and left.

So I was skeptical about getting Texas BBQ in Pennsylvania and I was blown away by Red's Texas BBQ....it's a little hard to find on the scalp strip in Johnstown, Pa it's in a small group of shops next to a sub way and it's got a small drive thru but that's the only thing small about this wonderful restaurant....The flavor is HUGE!!!!! So the menu was on a smaller scale due to the co-vid 19 but the offerings were everything that we were looking for...we got pulled pork and brisket with a couple of sides like baked beans, Mac and cheese, beans rice and sausage....the pulled pork melts in your mouth and has a Smokey smooth flavor and is seasoned to perfection....the brisket has a deep Smokey taste and the meat is so flavorful that it's hard to switch between them....they gave us extra sauce which had a sweet and tangy taste which blends well with the Smokey taste...the sides are great! The baked beans have a sweet taste and also Smokey flavor that was not overbearing it was smooth and it had such a taste that I can't even put it into words...I'm not a big baked beans guy but these were well worth the money...the Mac and cheese was a traditional homemade concoction only thing was it could use salt but that's just my personal preference...the beans, rice and sausage have a kick a little too much for me but I'll take it...also my girlfriend loved the cornbread she even pointed out that it actually had real corn in the bread which you don't usually see that in most cornbread...everything is home made which makes spending your money at this restaurant worth the investment...love this place and expect to be seeing more of me!

Red's is now in a much better location, and it's a hometown treasure. Decor is more sports bar than barbecue shack, but that's actually perfect, because it's really both. There is a decent range of draft beers and a wide selection of bottles; some patrons come just for the beer, bar food, and the wide-screen televisions featuring sports. But make no mistake: Red's makes serious barbecue. The baby back ribs are not to be missed: they are fall-off-the-bone tender and succulent. (Yes, barbecue contest judges consider that degree of tenderness to be overcooked, but we normal mortals consider fall-off-the-bone to be the gold standard for any kind of ribs.) Another standout is the fried cabbage, which is perfectly seasoned, tender, and delectable. Pulled pork is tender and flavorful. The brisket was a bit dry for my taste, but my other half liked it a lot. The fresh-cut fries were hot and tasty. The staff was extremely friendly and made certain everything was good. We will definitely return.

Overall this place isn't bad but there is a lot to be wished for. I ordered a brisket plate and a pulled pork plate. If you've ever been to a Texas BBQ you'd understandably be reserved when ordering due to the massive portions, this is not that place. Portion size was pretty small. Red beans and rice had undercooked rice and that patoto salad had a lot of mayo. I truly hope this was a one off experience and willing to give things another go as the meat was good.

Have been here quite a few times. Food is decent, though nothing special. However, my family and I will will no longer be frequenting an establishment where the owner gets very drunk (at the business location, while doing business) and slings disrespectful/offensive slurs at others. I am all about supporting local businesses any chance I get, but that type of behavior I cannot accept nor support. Neither my family nor my money will be returning to Red's Texas BBQ.
