This has been a "go to" spot for my parents for years and a South Park favorite. We were in town with friends and decided to give them a little taste of the 'Burgh by ordering hoagies. If you grew up here you know that hoagies are heated- the meat is warm, the cheese is melted and you need just the right roll, a little crispy on the outside and soft inside. I'll probably get in trouble for this one but -Philly folks call it a grinder when they heat up hoagies and I have to say not as much time and thought is usually put into the actual sandwich construction, so I usually steer clear. Lol.We ordered Italian and turkey hoagies, wings and pizza and a salad for a vegan friend. Everything was great and our Philly friends were impressed.

I had heard really good things about Red Onion and finally got to try it this weekend. Overall, there was some good and some bad. My wife and I got a pizza and breadsticks. The pizza was pretty good, not great, but above average I would say. It needed to be cooked a little longer, because the crust was pretty flimsy. The sauce had a really good flavor, if you like a sweeter sauce. The best thing about the entire order was the side of ranch. Their sides are massive, as opposed to some places that cheap out on them. The ranch itself was so good and went perfect with the doughy crust.For the bad, the breadsticks were some of the worst I have ever seen. They looked and tasted like the were frozen breadsticks. Also, the marinara sauce that came with them tasted like tomato soup instead of marinara.

We have ordered from here for many years, and always enjoyed the food, but the way it is being run recently is not conducive to favorable ratings. Reasons....15-20 minutes or longer to get someone to answer the phone to order, orders promised within an hour taking much longer. The food is still great, but the service has some major room for improvement. I hope they are able to make this my favorite place to order from again

Red Onion has been recommended by many on the Bethel Park Facebook page and we finally got to try it tonight. We've tried to order before, but the wait would be over an hour. We got a cheese pizza, a meatball hoagie, a veggie hoagie, fries and ranch. Everything was really good. Veggie hoagies are often a sad situation at pizza places, but this was filled with all kinds of veggies and not overly greasy. The meatballs were cut in half which was genius. The fries reminded me of potato patch fries and the ranch was homemade an delicious too. The pizza sauce is sweet and the pizza itself is a bit greasier than other places, but was really good.They estimated 20 minutes for the food to be ready, but it did take 40 minutes. I know stuff happens, but just something to keep in mind.

Red Onion has been my go to Italian hoagie spot for years. However, after this evening, I will have trouble recommending to anyone else. I ordered an Italian hoagie and paid for extra tomato, as usual, this evening. When I got home I opened up a COLD hoagie with only 4 tiny pieces of meat and NO tomato. I understand that mistakes happen, but that's a pretty big mess up for just one item.

The meatballs are good & this is why I give it 2 stars. Needed more gravy. I went in person to pick up the orders, while inside I could see the guy at the counter packing up the order & noticed one of the salads spilled out. The guy proceeds to pick up the salad up with his hands & throw back into the container, he closed the container & puts it in the bag with the rest of my order. I asked if I could have a fresh salad, he then informed me that all of the salads are prepared on the counter. Needless to say, we didn't eat the salads or the pasta, it was too dry. I try to support local businesses, I just wish they'd take pride in the food they serve and care about quality, taste, and presentation as well as making guests & patrons feel appreciated and welcomed.
