Portofino's is a below average local american-italian restaurant. In terms of the food, which most people are going to care about, it's medium/large potions with below-average taste (and this leads me to assume there's below average quality). Their chicken parmigiana is grilled chicken by default (have never seen this before), sitting on top of spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce, it would get 1.5 stars from me, tastes nothing like your classic american-italian chicken parmigiana, and you can probably make it better at home for cheaper. You can order it breaded but the default is grilled chicken (and they do not ask you which one you want).Hoagies are average at 3 stars around 7-8 inches, they're what you expect for a sandwich. The side salad you get with an entree is nothing special, has tomato and onion and cucumber in it with iceberg lettuce.Their tomato sauce tastes like it has been cooked down which makes it taste bitter and not bright / acidic at all. This is not appealing to me. I have not tried their pizza / wings at this time but if I ever try it then I will update this review to reflect my opinion. The location is counter-service (you order at the counter then pick up your food and either eat there or leave) there's only two or three tables to sit at. It looks and feels like a typical local italian take-out restaurant. If you're physically in the area and deciding between Portofino and Palermo, I think Palermo is better for non-pizza american-italian food, though neither of these restaurants are even in my top 30% of places in the city.

What's for dinner? (Friday, January 29, 2021)Pizza from Portofino's. If anyone knows me, they know how pizza is my favorite meal! However, this particular place has a problem with cooking it fully. It looks okay. But, the middle isn't fully done. I even ask them to cook it well done with no avail. My husband thinks it's because their ovens aren't right & it cooks it too fast. As with anything else, I'm picky. The first time that I had them... I was in love. Now, I'm just disappointed! Bon appétit!

This place should have way more stars. I got coupons in the mail, so I decided to give them a shot. I was a little worried though since the reviews weren't that great, but I was pleasantly surprised. We got the standard pepperoni pizza (always get a medium - best cheese/sauce/dough ratio out there) and it was cooked to perfection. The pepperonis had curled up on the edges. We also ordered the cheese sticks which gave me bowling alley vibes, but in the best way possible. Now the real show stopper was the gyro. Oh my god. The best I have ever had and it was packaged separately, so it still tasted amazing when I finally got it home. Seriously, give this place a shot.

Hands down the worst appetizers I've ever had. They tasted like old, frozen aisle type munchies. I was so disappointed and didn't eat any of it. They also didn't give us any sauce. We went back for it (before we tasted anything and while we were blissfully unaware of how no sauce would fix our food). They were not helpful or polite in any way.

So glad we follow the stars on social media. We were staying nearby and confirmed via phone call they would deliver, looked over the menu and settled on wings, cheese pizza, greek salad and a spinach calzone. Expectation was 45 minutes and in about thirty minutes we git the call they were a few minutes away. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful. Their pizza pie and wings rivaled some of the best found in NY. Driver was pleasant and kept in touch. Much appreciated. Would definitely order again when in the area. Enjoy!
