Pitt Stop Diner & Pizzeria

...my cousin and I finished picking up wreathes at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies and stopped here for breakfast. The food was great but the asshole of a manager had only one server on duty and people would come in and just turn around. Our waitress was holding up under the pressure but was busier than a cross between Jesus Christ and an octopus. Left a big tip for her troubles...

This used to be a different restaurant and seems to be under new ownership. I'm torn because there is a lot of good, but definitely some improvement is needed. There's a large menu. I ordered the NY Ruben. It was fine, although the bread was slightly over toasted and almost black. It was supposed to come with fries & coleslaw. I was told they were out of slaw, but they offered nothing in its place. It's not the end of the world, but they still charged for something not served. Should have given more fries or made some other substitution. The one waitress was busy. You'll need to ask for extra napkins as you'll only get one. As for ambience, it looks like a traditional dinner but the booth seats need some attention. Lots of peeling tape. However, the price wasn't bad. Less than $20 including tip and drink. Large iced tea glasses were appreciated. I think it will get better as they continue to work.

Pancakes were ok but not like they were when it was the Pike inn. Service was awful and they seriously need to hire a waitress. Never got our coffee refilled even once. Man who waited on us was seriously overwhelmed. We drove quite a ways to come here since we were here when it was the old owner. Unfortunately we probably will not make the trip back. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

As authentic as it gets diner wise. Good service with the always western Pennsylvania friendliness. Food (breakfast) used fresh ingredients and the prices were excellent. If you're looking for a real diner experience this is the place.

Best pancakes in the area. Fresh fruit toppings were delicious. Hospitality was great. The owner is a funny fellow. Give it a try.
