My husband and I were in town for the Ravens/Steelers game and stayed in Lawrenceville. A friend recommended Piccolo Forno for dinner, and we snagged a reservation! It's a busy restaurant, a few days before dinner they only had an 8 PM reservation available. They are BYOB but charge a corkage fee - still a great deal to bring your own bottle of wine. For appetizers, we got the bread and compound butter and the antipasto meat platter. I loved the bread and butter! The meats and cheeses were also tasty and the waitress explained what each thing on the platter was.For entrees, we shared a prosciutto mushroom pizza and the seafood cannelloni. No complaints about either dish, they were both really yummy and I liked the sauce in the seafood pasta dish. Finally, for dessert we got the tiramisu. I will say my only slight "meh" thought was I thought the tiramisu was way too lemony which I didn't think was really common for a tiramisu. Service was also great. Our waitress was really friendly and checked on us frequently! I would definitely return if ever back in Pittsburgh.

We went on a weekday and found street parking easily. Highly recommend reservations even during the week, as the restaurant does get busy. The waiter was very attentive and opened our twist top wine bottle - lol. It is byob with a charge. The appetizers are nice portions to share. We had the roasted carrots and Brussels sprouts which were cooked nicely (not too crunchy and not limp) on top of ricotta. The hot honey was barely noticeable. The spinach ravioli were in a pine nut brown butter (lots of butter!) and were filling enough that I was good eating half and taking the rest home. This is always a solid experience with service and food.

I was here a while back on a double date with my gf, my daughter and her bf.I had been wanting to try this place for some time now as I had it bookmarked on Yelp. It's a nice little romantic place with spectacular service and delicious food.It was my daughters and girlfriends first time in Lawrenceville so we walked around and had some drinks before deciding on what we wanted to eat.We were treating my daughter and her bf so we let them decide on which place they wanted to eat and this was the place they picked, which was fine with us because my gf loves Italian food. Ha!The interior is small, warm, and welcoming. The waitress we had was outstanding and did her job very well. She made us feel appreciated and checked on us often. We asked her about wine but she said we would have to go get it as it's BYOB, or they can bring it up from outback. I get it you don't want to pay for a license, but you own a place right outside which accommodates your restaurant. Genius! lolThere was a cork fee which was fine with us. We ordered a white wine:- Fecerunt Pecorino 8/10All of the food we ordered was very good and we were not let down by one dish. We shared everything and I was pleased with it all. We ordered:- House bread and butter 10/10- Margherita pizza 8/10- Lasagna 9/10- Seafood Cannelloni 9/10- Spaghetti with crab and shrimp 9/10- Tiramisu 7/10- Dream Bomba 9/10 Thanks again for the great food and service :)

We've had many meals here before, but tonight was one of THE BEST! That three cheese mezzaluna with wild mushroom marsala cream sauce needs to be a menu staple! Remi took really good care of us - paced the meal perfectly and gave great recommendations. This is a regular stop for us and can't be missed if you're in the Lawrenceville area. It's BYOB so plan to bring a bottle of wine. Also, make sure to stop by Grapperia next door (before or after) for an espresso martini. These two places go hand in hand and make for a great night!

We had a really great dinner at Piccolo Forno for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately being seated next to a baby at 8pm wasn't great but that's not the restaurant's fault. But everything we ate was delicious. The roasted brussel sprouts and carrot appetizer in particular was so dynamic, with a creamy apple parsnip puree which balanced the roasted vegetables out nicely. The stuffed peppers were also really great and different from what we've had at other restaurants with a red pepper sauce and topped with kalamata breadcrumbs. Very spicy. For our mains we had the lasagna and the spinach tagliatelle with lamb sausage. Both were great but I think we both prefered the lasagna. It's a big portion and the noodles definitely seem homemade. For dessert we had tiramisu and affogato. The tiramisu had a hint of lemon which was really nice. Overall great food but atmosphere left us a little wanting. Really bright lights shining right at the person sitting closest to the wall is a little odd. Wish they could dim those. Also sitting back near the bathrooms isn't as nice as being seated on the first floor. Service was good and food came out fast. We will definitely come back!

Amazing dinner here with some friends! We had a bottle of presseco, and my wife and I split the fungus e prosciutto pizza and the cavatelli pasta. It was absolutely delicious, and you HAVE TO GET THE PIZZA! We ended the night with some tiramisu, and it was wonderful

We stopped back for some terrific Italian grub on a Friday night with a group of eight. Our waiter was fabulous and provided solid recommendations. The green salad was fresh and nicely prepared with enough for each of us to have a taste of it. The stuffed banana peppers packed a nice heat but could have used a bit more filling. The pastas were all fresh and served hot. I had the spinach tagliatelle with spicy ground lamb and really enjoyed it. Two others tried the braised rabbit pappardelle and loved and there were great reviews for the lasagna. My wife really loved her spaghetti with crab and shrimp too. We had a few of the peanut butter and chocolate gelato bombas that are always delicious. Such a great meal!

I've walked past this tiny Italian restaurant in Lawrenceville many times & finally popped in for dinner the other night. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to visit as the indoor space is tiny, but that contributes to the cute ambiance. Service was prompt, and the server was really helpful with answering our (many) questions regarding his favorite dishes on the menu. I knew ahead of time that the restaurant was known for their homemade pastas, so we opted to try a couple of those. The lasagna was a huge portion & was the ultimate comfort food. The spaghetti was delicious as well! It came with shrimp, crab, & veggies in a spicy calabrian chile butter sauce - yum! You could immediately tell that both of the pasta dishes were super fresh & they were served piping hot. While the food didn't necessarily blow me away in terms of fanciness, it tasted great. I also love that the restaurant is a BYOB & very reasonably priced. Food: B+Drinks: N/AService: A-Ambiance: B

I've had some wonderful meals here- both the pizza and pasta is great- it's SO hard to choose between the 2 when ordering your entree! I also love their appetizers and the BYOB for drinks- love bringing a good wine for my dinner. I've been here 3-4 times now and can confidently say that the food is consistently good

Had a great dinner at piccolo forno over the weekend. Stopped in with a couple friends and we were quickly seated outside. We were seated at a table on the corner of the restaurant with bare tables and with no one around us. It didn't even feel like we were eating at the restaurant and just a random table outside. It would've been nice to have a nicer eating area but this is a small suggestion. Our server Kate was knowledgeable and very kind. We brought 2 bottles of wine and it's $8 charge per bottle for BYOB. My friends enjoyed their ravioli and loved the lasagna. My prosciutto, mushroom pizza was excellent and I was able to take home leftovers as well. Pro tip: there are so many breweries on Butler st. so I recommend checking out one of them before dinner to BYOB here.
