This was the only stop I made in Pittsburg while I was driving through as plants and greenhouses are something I love! I am so happy with the decision to stop here. It was beautiful inside and even the exterior was photo-worthy. There are multiple rooms to visit (including an outdoor area) and I would have to say that the orchid room was my favorite. The gift shop almost serves as a plant shop where you can buy pots and new plants. I wish there was a little more merchandise to choose from in the gift shop, but I found a little magnet to commemorate my visit. Thanks, Phipps!

I love conservatories so I go to as many as I can. Pittsburgh Conservatory is as good if not better than any I've visited. While the outside displays are kind of smaller the actual Conservatory is well thought out and dynamic with displays changing constantly. The train room is perfect for kids of all ages and while always fun, some just take your breath away. My favorite spotlight event is the bonsai orchid event when they bring those plants out and display them throughput the glass house. But it's fun to go to all the events and seasonal changes. In May they have a plant sale on the front lawn. It's a great time with lots of vendors selling plants, food, arts and crafts and garden related items. It is a highlight of our spring.

Had a wonderful and magical experience at the holiday light show this past weekend. This event is one of my favorite pittsburgh holiday classics, and this year did not disappoint. Then flowers were remarkable, I especially loved the cacti room (I had no idea there were so many species of cacti, and the different species were so beautifully laid out) as well as the orchid room (stunning species of flowers, see accompanying pictures to appreciate!). The light show set the mood and really appreciated the beautifully adorned trees and displays. A nice touch were the ornaments designed by local school kids that utilized trash found in the parks to make creative ornaments. Thanks for putting on a lovely show, can't wait for next years!

This outstanding conservatory features flawless, diverse, mature plant displays in a series of flowing, interconnected rooms and outdoor spaces. My favorites are the Stove room, the Desert room, and the Japanese Courtyard garden. Check out the Center for Sustainable Landscapes Green Roof for its gardens and views. It would be worth visiting the Phipps just for the architecture. Phipps hosts popular annual seasonal events, including May Market, the Garlic and Tomato Festival (September), and the holiday floral and lights show - I like to attend on New Year's Eve. The Phipps is at the top of my itinerary when entertaining guests from out of town. It's also a fun family outing with plenty of attractions to engage school-age children, including the Discovery Garden and Gallery room make-believe farmer's market. I recommend the Phipps cafe for a snack or a meal. The Phipps is a Pittsburgh cultural gem!
