Came here for the first time on a Saturday night and the bartender that helped me was very rude & crabby for no reason. They weren't busy so I can't assume it was from being overwhelmed. I got an espresso martini and it was really good. The ambiance is cute as well- it's a speakeasy turned club vibe. Very much a party spot and not a chill relaxing spot. I would like to go back because everything else was great, except for that particular employee.

The BEST espresso martini I have had in Pittsburgh. We stopped in right when they opened on a Friday night. I love the cozy and dark vibe and the comfy couch seating. The espresso martini was rich and chocolatey. It was truly divine. I'd love to come back here and experience it later at night while the DJ plays.

This speakeasy-style bar located underneath Scarpino has the potential to be great, but seems to struggle with bringing in a crowd for some reason. The cocktails are delicious and inventive (this tiramisu martini was SO yummy), and the bartenders are knowledgeable and helpful. I think where Penn Society is getting lost is in the ambiance. The giant, round comfy couches are great for relaxing, but the DJ blasts club music so loud that it's hard to hear anyone but the person sitting directly next to you. It seems like a fun spot if you come with a large group (like a party), but not an ideal lounge for a smaller, more intimate setting that we were looking for out of a speakeasy/cocktail lounge.Food: N/ADrinks: AService: B+Ambiance: C+

Located in the basement of Scarpino, it's a speakeasy that isn't really a speakeasy. I had their IG featured cocktail, Lavender Haze and it tasted great. We also had their MEGA espresso martini ($65) which was good and worth it if you're splitting it with a group because- she big. You're basically in the wine cellar/basement of the restaurant so it gives the moody/speakeasy vibes.

It's a cool vibe! Good place for drinks after dinner. You walk down the stairs to the prohibition style speakeasy with dim lit lights around the room and the bar lit up. Big couches available for bottle service and open space for standing around the bar. There is a DJ late night so the music is played loud. We went early in the night and it wasn't busy. The bartenders said it gets busier around 2 am. Also, you can purchase a membership to receive special perks.

Speakeasy located on Penn Avenue. It was very quiet and dark - but the space was very cool and unique for a night cap. Drinks were just okay.

Every single time I go to a bar or club that is not aware of the true scope of ADA I am beyond polite and try to be extremely calm and empathetic towards the ignorant uninformed employees and explain to them the actual rules and regulations of ADA.Since I deal with this all the time from ignorant a**holes, I am well versed. I care about this cause greatly and ass such have spent a lot of time talking to our government representatives about the scope and scale of the ADA. . . Despite attempting to do that at Penn Society yesterday for a solid 15 minutes, I was still not provided a reasonable accommodation and denied entry to the club due to my backpack, therefor being discriminated against. Now, because of HIPPA, technically I don't even have to disclose to your ignorant staff what my disabilities are, but for transparency sake I will let you in and tell you the I have severe tinnitus, complex post traumatic stress syndrome, and am a profoundly gifted adult. So let's get into the facts here. . . The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires businesses and venues to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. In this case, the person with complex post-traumatic stress syndrome and tinnitus requires a backpack to carry essential items, such as medication or hearing aids, that alleviate the symptoms of their disability.Allowing a backpack in a nightclub that typically does not permit them can be considered a reasonable accommodation as it would enable the person to fully participate in the activities at the venue without compromising their health or safety. Denying them access or forcing them to leave their backpack outside would be a violation of their rights under the ADA.Of course, there may be concerns regarding security or safety issues related to allowing backpacks in a nightclub. In such cases, the nightclub would be required to explore alternative accommodation options that meet the needs of the individual with disabilities while also ensuring the safety and security of all patrons. The nightclub may also be required to make other modifications, such as providing assistance or alternative seating arrangements to ensure that the individual can fully participate in the activities at the venue.Failing to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities is considered discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The penalty for such discrimination can be severe, and it can include legal action against the business or venue that failed to provide the accommodation. The exact penalties may vary depending on the specific circumstances of the case, but they may include fines, damages, and legal fees. Additionally, businesses or venues may be required to take corrective action, such as implementing policies or procedures to ensure that reasonable accommodations are provided to individuals with disabilities in the future. It's important to note that the penalty for discrimination under the ADA is not just financial. Discrimination can have serious consequences for the individual with a disability, including exclusion from social activities, reduced access to essential services, and a negative impact on their mental and physical health. Therefore, it's crucial that businesses and venues take the necessary steps to ensure that they are providing reasonable accommodations and not discriminating against individuals with disabilities. My hope is that this review serves as a public notice that discriminating against Americans with disabilities of all shapes and sizes is 100 percent unacceptable in Pittsburgh and beyond. Please do better. Be kinder. God Bless,Daniel Joseph Massimino

Nice to have a spot to go get a drink after 2am but that was about it. Prior to 2am it was free, after 2am it was $20 cover. There was not one chair or bar stool. There was no where to hang up a coat. Their house cocktails were not available at this time. The entire place reeked of weed, and it became more and more potent as time went on. I had to shower and throw my clothes in the wash when I got home. It was so bad I asked an employee if they allowed smoking down there. She said "no, but it's hard to enforce." ????

This isn't a speakeasy, it's a night club :(As in - pay for a section, clear the tables to the side, and bump up the DJ. Went here with friends hoping for an intimate, cozy speakeasy to grab some cocktails (which it has the capacity to be) but we were very disappointed to see that it's actually a night club - the exact opposite of what it should be
