Really like this garden center. I happened to stop here on a day before Mother's Day weekend in which they just got their first Spring shipments and what a fine selection of annuals and perennials! I was totally unsure what to do to select plants and get them to the counter and car so asked the staff. They all were so very cordial and helpful. I just got a cart outside, loaded up, and wheeled it to the counter inside. I inquired about potting soil to plant outdoors if which they had several options. They asked me some questions and then recommended both a type and amount of soil and had me pull my car to a loading spot and staff loaded into my car. Love this place!Oh and know that as of this posting it is on a nursery list with Phipps Conservatory. If you are either a Phipps Conservatory employee (full disclosure-- I am) or a Phipps Conservatory member you get a discount. Nice perk.

I stopped here a few times and was always disappointed.......especially when the light-up sign out front announced Venus Fly Traps......I went in to get a few and.....well.....all they had were dead, brown sticks in pots.......terrible.......lots of dead plants all around.......outside was just a jungle mess with nothing priced and some rude girl walking around watering who couldn't be bothered to answer a question......ridiculous.....what a waste of time to stop here......home depot garden dept. is better cared for than this place......at least they can keep a cactus plant alive.......this place is pathetic.

I love our local Penn Hills Garden Center. Jayme Visnesky is enthusiastic and generous, and it shows in her business. She is making opportunities for local small businesses and helps the Penn Hills community with its community gardens and offers in-house gardening workshops. If you haven't stopped in lately, definitely check out the new spring merchandise, as well as the remodeled upstairs with the Steel Goat Market. Kudos to Jayme for her entrepreneurship!

Wonderful plant selection. Veggies, annuals, perennials. Prices are great. Under $20 for a huge flat of veggies and annuals. Bulk goods too.

Terrible. Nothing is priced and you have to ask the price in each hanging basket. Since they range in price from about 15 to 35 there is quite a range. Of course finding someone to ask is another story. The staff who are actually outside watering.... well they're good for a couple "I don't knows". Oh and those coupons you kept in your glove box? Only good in the fall. Don't waste your time or money there are WAY better nurseries elsewhere.

Since moving to Churchill 11 years ago Penn Hills Lawn and Garden center has always been our "go to" place for all outside plants, lawn products, gifts and Christmas trees! My husband and I prefer to support local businesses. I became a familiar face to each of the ladies who kindly and willingly helped me when I visited.... until today. We bought an expensive topiary bush last summer that didn't make it. We have lost other plants in the past and that is to be expected and we don't return anything - ever. But today when we went in, we were treated rudely and very much disrespected. The worker didn't want to deal with us, so she called the owner on the phone. I was asked by the owner if I had a receipt and I replied "no." Her response was, "then what do you want me to do for you?" I responded, "what will you do for me?" I reminded her who I was. She said she didn't know me, and yet I know her, everyone of her workers and her dog by name! I was willing to take a credit but she told me that without a receipt she could not help me. Then she blurted out "I FEEL THREATENED BY YOU!" Wow!! My husband and I have spent thousands of dollars there, love their business but will NEVER return. I am certainly saddened that I was treated so disrespectfully and will surely tell all of my friends and neighbors of my experience. If you are spending your money there they will be welcoming and friendly.....but if a problem arises WATCH OUT!! It's a shame that she lost our ongoing business over a dead bush.
