Crazy good ice cream, all made in the back of the shop. This place was recommended by the kayak provisioner in Franklin and it did not disappoint. Legendary since 1928, make sure you go out of your way for this ice cream.Lots of flavors to choose from, plus they even have doggy dishes. They sell pints and quarts, and for quite reasonable prices.

Saw the sign Homemade ice cream had to stop it I was actually looking for some lunch. This is a great place to get ice cream the owner is a 3rd generation owner. I ordered the Butter brickle he put three nice scoops on my regular cake cone and I handed him my money and he said that the first one is on the house. The counter is set up with cone dive holes across it to hold the cone with ice cream very clever. I looked forward to coming back the ice cream was terrific.

Hughes has been making ice cream locally since 1928 and the shop itself looks like it has been the same since they first started. There is always a great variety of homemade ice cream - but my absolute favorite is Teaberry flavored. You can't just walk to the grocery and get that flavor. It's delicious and creamy and handpacked to go or served in cup or cone. There is also a selection of small grocery items, newspapers, unique sodas and snacks.

I drove past here one time wondering, "is this the place with the best ice cream in all of Harrisville?" After a hard day of work, I headed straight to this place. My paycheck was fairly small, but I scraped enough pennies to earn the right to firmly grasp the ice cream cone in my hand. As a die-hard vanilla enthusiast, I declared that this frozen-treats establishment is the best. Majestic, yet humble and inspirational. The answer to my question from earlier is, "Yes." Now, Yelp is telling me,"Keep those thumbs rolling, you wizard of words." That's how I know that my review is probably too long for practical use.

Best ice cream you can buy at a very affordable price! Offers hand packed half gallons, quarts pints or even cups to go. Have a variety of cone choices too; waffle, cake, sugar, and pretzel cones. They also offer milkshakes, diet ice cream, and frozen yogurt. All ice cream is homemade on site and has been passed down to third generation in the family. 90 years and counting!

Hughes Ice Cream is the Best! The owners are a delightful blessing to the community! I love their chocolate and it's always been a special place to go to for my family since I was a little child. Now we tell our friends and family to stop!

Disgusting. Freezer burnt. Over priced. Literally two flavors. Got chocolate and it was not at all impressive. Heads up! There's no advertisement but they only take cash!

I love this ice cream store!! It brings back so many childhood memories for me. My Dad first took me there when I was a young child. My first ice cream cone there was teaberry. It was a revelation!! I loved it!! It's a great walk down memory lane for me. I got three scoops of teaberry on my cone and I was a little kid again!! It tasted just as good as I remember it was; pure heaven!! They have other flavors as well; they are a just as good. Although it can be hard to find teaberry; I know as long as Penn Gold is in Harrisville, I will make the trip to get a cone. And the service was wonderful as well. It's still in the same building that I remember as a child. Doesn't get any better than this!!
