I was born and raised just outside of Johnstown and could absolutely kick myself for not getting here sooner. We grabbed an order for takeout and waited about 25 minutes which was absolutely worth it as the fried chicken came out hot and fresh.They go fairly light with their batter but it was crisp and perfectly seasoned. We also enjoyed the sides of mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw. Bonus points for their huge gob for dessert as well. The inside is no frills, but I can see why everyone raves about this place. Hopefully we can make it back here one day for breakfast.

It's been over 10 years since the last time I went to Our Sons. When I came in 2011 it took nearly an HOUR to get our fried chicken and the service was bad. But since it's been over 10 years I decided to give it another try (May 20th 2023 lunch time) in hope things were better. I was greatly disappointed.Firstly there is counter seating (about 5 seats) and otherwise tiny booths along a narrow dining space. The fabric on the booth seats is torn in multiple places in every booth - which are cramped and difficult for my dining companion to get into and out of.Menus are so tiny print that you need a magnifying lens to read it and in fact if I had not checked the menu online, I wouldn't know what they offered in general (even online it's not clear what beverages they have). Naturally the prices for everything was higher than listed online.Ordering went fine. But it took over 40 minutes to get our food. What is worse, I could see our food ready to be served - which the waitress ignored for at least 10 minutes; no shock my mashed potatoes were ice cold. No one cared about getting our food to us.All this time I was waiting to take medicine that cannot be taken on an empty stomach. And the waitress didn't notice. She was chatting it up with other customers.Likewise, since there's no signage to tell you to pay at the register when ready, it was painful trying to actually pay for the meal.As for the food - nothing to write home about. It wasn't terrible, but definitely does not live up to the hype. i honestly could have gotten better food and for less money at the KFC on Scalp Ave. Or, for that matter, made myself and I'm a pretty lousy cook, especially towards fried chicken.In summary, unless your aim is to throw money at a small business on principal, try another restaurant. There was nothing happy about my experience.

We stopped in for Sunday breakfast. It took forever to get a refill on my coffee, my mom saw the waitress drop a piece of toast on the floor, pick it up, put it back on the plate and serve it to a man.

I stopped in for lunch and was taken back in time! The food was very comforting and delicious. I wasn't brave enough to try a 4 piece chicken dinner (too much food) so I had the chicken tenderloins. Everything was great, the roll was to die for. I even returned this evening for a piece of strawberry pie. Everyone was delightful, my waitress Jenna was extremely friendly (no, I am not related to anyone at this establishment, plus I live 1000 miles away). I travel for work and this was one of the best local restaurants I've frequented. Plus customers were quick to explain what a Gob was.The prices couldn't be beaten! $6.99 for dinner.

Not what it use to be! 1. Rude people working.2. The cook more interested in wondering the table area with his filthy apron on, waitress waiting for foo, customers unhappy!3. Nobody answers the phone, it just rings and rings. 4. It is dirty, sticky and needs cleaning! 5. It seems like the regulars are the only ones that matter!Fred and Erma what has happened.

You can have a nice home meal here. Nestled in John's Town, PA and the restaurant has full of people inside. Friendly service and traditional American meal services here. Very delicious food.

The service was good, but food was terrible. My eggs were only half fried, the potatoes did not look good and tasted ever worse, the bacon I had to send back. When I got the bacon back, it looked like they had placed it in a deep fried until it looked like a black ribbon. We will never go there again. They did have good coffee.

You have to try their awesome chicken, but if you order anything else it's bound to be great, too! All of their food is homemade with large portions and reasonably priced. Casual dress atmosphere; a jeans and T-shirt kind of place. Employees are welcoming and friendly.
