Otto's Pub & Brewery

Beer is absolutely fantastic. Good variety with small batch special coinciding with time of year. Food can use some worth though. I would say it's below average classic bar food. Service was good on my end. Bartenders were smart and attentive. Environment is classic sports pub. Just wish the food was a little better. If you want good beer and a TV to watch the game, Otto's is your place.

Highlight at Otto's is the beer.Enjoyed the apricot wheat ale and the seasonal robust porter. Bought a Red Mo single for home and that was good too. Hubby enjoyed his IPA flight and took a 4-pk. Glad they have that purchase option.Food - it's totally fine. Just fine. But really not better than that. My fries were served cold, guessing because my black bean burger was done first and my plate had to wait for the others. Hubby had perfectly warm fries.I really want to rate it higher, because my son's name is Otto. But it is what it is.Go for the beer.

I quit going to Otto's not too long ago; used to be one of my favorites. Last time we went we ordered medium rare hamburgers and they came back way thin, overcooked and almost burned. I naturally complained and was made to feel I had committed a crime and was on trial. The waitress was unable to help and had to find a manager for assistance. In the meantime our food had gotten cold. It took a while to get things settled; it was not a pleasant dining experience. If they would have just simply taken the food back and replaced it I would not be writing this. I understand sometimes there can be a new cook, etc. Sometimes the fries aren't the freshest either if you go mid-afternoon and once I had rancid chicken wings. They wouldn't refund me my money because I tried eating one or two of them. I used to rave about their wings until the treatment I received over this incident.If you are visiting State College and want a delicious burger then I recommend dining at Olde New York at the other end of town.PS: They also had the audacity to cancel life time memberships recently of all the original Pub Club Members who helped to establish this place; they wanted $100/year to maintain your membership.To be fair the beers are excellent and worth a trip there if you just want to sample some beers. Eat at Olde New York first though or any other restaurant.

Otto's is a slightly modern, but comfortably familiar food + bar experience that also brews their own beer. Sorta like a BJ's, if I had to compare it. The prices on food were fair, and the variety of choices was more than I was expecting! I got a very scrumptious creole crab dip with plenty of bread for spreading on, along with a decently sized bowl of chili with the extra sour cream I asked for. It was all delivered expediently by attentive waitstaff and an active bartender. No complaints about service! They also have a little store attached where you can buy singles or packs of beers and sodas you liked from the restaurant, along with the selection of merch. The restaurant is part of a larger family of owned restaurants and a distillery next door, so you can find some of their products on the menu, too!

Lots of space cool place.cheese stake and fish in the way to go. Pass on nachos. Come for the beer not the food. Hot dogs were a great surprise.

This was our first trip to a brewery at State College. We went here because they had food and beer and it was highly recommended by the owner of Happy Valley Vineyard and Winery. She said you can't go wrong here.We stopped and thought it was a win, win for us both. We ordered food and a tasting of 4 beers. I added a 5th beer because it was a hazy IPA that I didn't see on the menu. I try Hazy's no matter where I go, my go to beer.Sampled the beers and they were good, and I went with a glass of the Hazy IPA that I enjoyed. The food on the other hand was so so, we both didn't think highly of the food, maybe it was our choices perhaps, but maybe try something different next time.They did have Root Beer to go and purchased for our son who loves brewery Root Beer. He said it was sensational and have to agree with him as I tried it when we arrived home.Overall good stop. Place had a lot of rich history with breweries based on the signs in the place.

Out waiter Alden was fantastic! He was timely, always checked in and knew the beer selection like the back of his hand. We had the margarita pizza and it was really good and crispy. The chicken wings are great too! We'll be back.

This place has a good atmosphere. The wait staff was wonderful and very attentive. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their food. Pricing isn't terrible. Would definitely go back and try some more menu items.

Overall, people enjoyed their food: burgers, pizza, and sandwiches. My order of smoked wings -although it could be a little more smoky-flavored, was nice and tender.They accommodated our group of 8. Our server addressed questions. Ambiance was good- we could hear each other, and NFL Sunday night football was on.

The food was good. Nothing outrageous, just good delicious food. The service was fast and friendly. This is a brewery and the interior reflects this. If you're in the area, one of the better places at State College.
