Visited Obey to listen to the Blues Attack. Arrived shortly before music began, so we sat at the bar and watched the Pirate ballgame with a couple of locals. We really enjoyed ourselves. Where're arrived, the place was packed. That evening, with a band, and full house, they only had 2 bartender/ waitresses, and 1 cook in the kitchen. We ordered a pizza and cheese steak as soon as we got there and didn't receive it for 1 1/2 hours. The food was very good and pizza fresh. Being a past owner of a bar, I would think the owner would have more help in the kitchen and on the floor. We were told that the owner was sitting, listening to the music, and not offering to help the staff. We really enjoyed the live music, the food, and the drinks. But we felt sorry for the staff having to put up with the large crowd. Therefore, I must give the owners a 1 star for his lack of management skills. Kudos to the 3 staff members, one being the owner's wife , the solitary cook in the kitchen.

This is an old neighborhood bar that's been around forever but it's a decent place to go hang with friends for some appetizers and pizza. The service was excellent-two very nice ladies serving us-very friendly, helpful and kind. The place was very quiet for a Thursday evening-almost too quiet-a little noise from a tv or music on low would be good. We ordered a pizza which was very tasty with a nice crust and we had the fried dill pickle chips and also chicken nuggets-which were excellent and a very nice portion size of both. The beer was cold and good and they have canned soft drinks-both Coke and Pepsi products served with a glass of ice-perfect! Very nice people to talk with and we plan on going back to try other food-we hear the tacos are the best around! Nice comfortable place to just chill with family and friends. It is very dated inside but clean and neat. Looking forward to going back very soon.

What a lovely time I had! I came here from Mississippi for vacation for a Steelers game and these people made me feel like family! The two bartenders were sweet and good at their jobs. The karaoke DJ was awesome. The patrons were very kind and welcomed me with open arms! Drinks were cheap too! I would LOVE to come back in the future!!!!

This is a great local bar where you can go and "feel like everybody knows your name...and they are always glad you came". Good specials, go for taco Wednesday or squices on Friday. If you don't know what a squice is and live in the area, then you have to stop at least once.

FAN!I don't live in Pittsburgh, but I frequent it for work. The last time I was up there everyone said, "where do you want to go for happy hour?" and while asking the out-of-towner may not be the best idea, i used Yelp and found Obey House. Other than the name (which is an inside joke between me and another friend) I thought it was a perfect dive bar in the best location from my office. Turns out I was absolutely right.Don't be scared by the "I might die in here" exterior. Obey House is really homey and comfortable inside. Their food is awesome and extremely well-priced. I think it was a Wednesday when we were there and it was $0.75 Taco Night. I have never had a better taco from a north-of-the-border establishment. The service is excellent. All of the bartenders are wonderful and nice. They're fast and, most importantly, cheap. I hear that it doesn't get too crowded in there so when our group of ~15 showed up we immediately took over the bar. And what's better than having a neighborhood bar full of all the people you know?Inside there are two areas - a bar area and (I think) a seating area. There's karaoke & open mic nights, a big screen tv, and lots of other things to pass the time. There are jello shots and jello pudding shots for like $1 a piece! Did I mention the $0.75 tacos?I really really like this place and I'll probably be back next time I'm up in PIT.

The ultimate dive bar, crowd looks rough but everybody there is quite friendly. A bar just as you come in and a bar/restaurant on the back. On Fridays they have karaoke, some of the worst singing I've ever heard, but that itself makes this place unique. The staff are all friendly and accommodating to newcomers.

The Obey House Tavern has literally been a neighborhood bar for over 200yrs! Built, in 1812, it was a stagecoach stop along the original Steubenville Pike - from Steubenville, OH to Pittsburgh, PA. I've lived 5 houses away most of my 60yrs. An old neighbor who also lived in a home built in the 1800's, once told me 40yrs ago it is believed Abraham Lincoln stayed there once. To say they just serve bar food would be a lie. Their pizza is excellent as are sandwiches and such. The bar is well stocked too. Friday night is Karaoke night and on Saturdays there are usually local bands. Oh, and in case you smell coffee brewing, that's just one of the ghosts concerned about you getting home safely. The tavern, they don't brew coffee.

I walked in at 12:25. Karaoke night. FULL bar. I was told that they were closed. People singing and drinking. Lights on the outside still on. I was told they were closed. This was the 2nd time I was there and was very surprised. Never going back.

Came here for the first time in forever. It was late, I tired to order food, but the kitchen just closed. My friend ordered a pizza because of it. The bartender yelled at him because they don't allow outside food. She threatened to throw it away if she saw us eating it. Will never return.
