O'Shea'S Candies

Our family LOVES O'Shea's Candies, a family-owned smalthat makes its own candy. I ordered our favorites, their peanut butter cups (dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate) and they arrived in ONE DAY! We live in Virginia and O'Shea'S is in Western PA -- Johnstown. Shout out to the very sweet man who took my order. My goal was to have the candy by Easter! Thanks for going above and beyond!!

O'Shea's Candies was around long before most of us were born. This address is where it all started seventy five years ago when Mr. & Mrs. O'Shea decided to buy the land next to their house and build a candy factory.Three generations and three locations grew them a multimillion dollar operation and added smiles to the locals faces. They still make their candies the old fashioned way, just like their grandparents did.Along the way the second generation of candy makers opened a second store and bought Penn Traffic's Candy Company and their famous dark chocolate and coconut cream filled pigs. Yep, that's what I said, pigs. They are huge for a piece of candy and after eating one you do feel like the pig you just ate.They also bought a coffee company and a salted nut business. The third generation opened the third store and added a line of homemade cream fudge.I am not a huge chocoholic but if you offer me dark chocolate I will not refuse and if you stir in nuts or coconut, I'm all yours. I love gummies and they make a grapefruit jelly slice that is gone before I reach my car.Why am I telling you all of this and teasing you with their gastronomical delights? I had purchased White Chocolate Cherry Cordials for my wife and O'Shea's wrapped them. When my wife unwrapoed them.she was very disappointed to find they had wrapped and shipped White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. I called O'Sheas the day after Christmas and spoke to a very pleaseant young lady who told me she would deliver the message and that they would get back to me soon. O'Shea's called a few hours later and were very appologetic for the mistake. They not only sent a replacement the shipped it priority mail. We have recieved the White Chocolate Cherry Cordials and they are excellent. Will definitely purchase from them again. Outstanding customer service!

Is the candy good? What candy isn't? Is Oshea's candy better than other local candy establishments such as Mid's Candy or Gardeners Candy? Absolutely not. Not only is the candy below the quality standards of that of Mid's and Gardeners candies, the ownership and the organization has significantly declined since the founding days. The reputation on Oshea's candy is built on legacy. A legacy that obviously does not exist today, and a legacy that would be rolling in its wrapper if it saw how this establishment was being run. Not only did they take part in copyright infringement attempting to coattail a national competition, that was won in this area, to try to boost sales. I am confident that they did nothing to fund the effort that us local grassroot individuals put great effort into and take pride in. What some people do to churn a profit sometime baffles me. This speaks to the leadership of a small candy company that seems to have a dismal future with its lack of leader, quality and disregard for its local community. I strongly suggest Gardeners or Mid's candy as they have quality products, quality leadership and a deep respect for our local community. If I could give no stars or negative stars I would. This place doesn't deserve one star.
