Pleasant clean little place kinda hidden on a side street. Service was great. Filled up my coffeee before it even cooled down. And the food was a great value and good healthy portion.

The food was good, the female staff were all pleasant, but the thin, older gentleman making the food kept coughing on to the food and around the kitchen. It was really disappointing to see no effort to block his face with his arm. Other than that, it's a lively atmosphere and really captures the essence of a classic Pittsburgh diner.

Went here for breakfast. We ordered the French toast, sausage links, eggs, and coffee. There wasn't anything outstanding about the breakfast menu, pretty much just the standard breakfast staples, however everything is fairly priced and exactly what you would expect. I thought the counter seating was fun and unique, although with such a large counter there are few booths and you may find the counter to be your only option.

A solid breakfast. A bit pricey but what isn't these days. The menu could be a bit more broad, perhaps some corned beef hash. Virtually everything is a permutation of eggs, bacon, starch.But I'd go back for sure.

I'm honestly surprised this place has such high reviews. I went there for the first time to get a to-go lunch and I'd never go back.I got one of their daily specials which was a chicken quesadilla with rice and I also grabbed a bag of chips. Total was $17. I could barely eat the quesadilla because it was floppy/soggy and falling apart. There was almost no cheese which would've maybe helped keep the ingredients actually stay inside the quesadilla. The rice was so bland I couldn't even finish the bite. The chips were the best part. All obviously overpriced at $17 for a bag of chips, a side of unseasoned rice, and barely a quesadilla.The staff was also yelling at each other the whole time I was waiting. I wouldn't even go back based on that with how stressed it made me just watching. Not worth the price for meh food and mad staff.

Great little diner in downtown Pittsburgh--very friendly staff and the food is good. They also offer catering services. We have utilized the catering for regional corporate events, on several occasions, and they do not disappoint. The food is outstanding--VERY top notch. I've included some photos of the catered food--I wish I had more, as they have also catered a regional breakfast and a regional 'Taco Tuesday' that were excellent! I highly recommend Nicky's on Grant for both the eat-in diner experience AND their catering services--you will not regret it!
