This place serves incredibly delicious food. I was very surprised with the quality given it has so few reviews. This place should be a lot more popular! I ordered the curry chicken patty, the jerk chicken with steamed cabbage and rice with peas (beans), fried plantains, and cornbread.I'll start with the star of the show: the incredible jerk chicken. Wow, wow, wow! The chicken was perfectly cooked and had an amazing texture. The spice was absolutely perfect as well. I thought it would extremely spicy. It's not too spicy, and had a slight sweetness to it. Not too fatty either. It's so good. The portion was great.The sides were also incredibly good. It is both sweet and slightly salty. Once again, the portion is incredible. Good texture, some carrots in there as well. It tastes like it's homemade and authentic. The rice and peas were also great and the portion was fantastic. It was a little bit dry, but still very good. It's not made with peas, but with beans (I think kidney beans).The plantains were once again insanely delicious. Some of the best plantains I've had in a while. It's quite sweet, so almost like a dessert. The inside is almost creamy. Amazing portion once more. And amazing price.The curry chicken patty was also great. The chicken stuffed inside was very well cooked, and the spices were perfect as well. The outside was crispy while the inside is creamy. There is nothing negative about this patty. Just get it.The only tiny negative about this place would be that I ordered some cornbread but I never received it. I am sure that it would be very tasty, but I just never got it. No problem though.All in all, incredible place. Honestly you need to try this place if you are in any way interested in trying Caribbean food. The prices are awesome, the portions are awesome, and the flavors are awesome.

I really try to give them my business but every time I go I'm disappointed. I get the curry chicken and I can never get what I ask. All all I wanted was gravy on the rice but for some reason they never do it and now they went up on their price went from $13 to $19 and there is no difference in the size you get three small pieces of chicken with a large. So what do you get two pieces of chicken with the medium which is $16 and one piece with the small that is $14 they need to give you your money's worth they are really scamming you. From now on I will do that travel to wilkinsburg to fireside they never disappoint me....

At first, I was a little skeptical, because where it was located, and it was like a bodega first curry chicken patty I've ever had and it was absolutely amazing. The oxtails beans and rice were divine and extremely tender and juicy beans and rice was on point flavor for the mac & cheese was just creamy cheesy and amazing. They'll definitely see me again I will be back if not for the next couple days. I'll be there at least once a week.

So I guess it depends what you like and what you have! Stopped by here last week, some of the family used words like bland and average to describe their oxtails, Mac and cheese and peas and rice! Others said the pepper steak was the best they have ever had! Well here's what I say about what I tasted. The potato salad was good tasted like dill pickles. The cabbage was amazingly awesome and the jerk chicken was flavorful! I was happy to get a leg quarter, my favorite! In would try them for sure. My my son in loves mom isn't supplying me with Jamaican food a gal gotta do what a gals gotta do and Hazelwood is certainly convenient to get a fix!

The food is good, they will make the fish and plantain fresh while you wait or you can call ahead.

If you need to lose weight fast or absolutely hate your stomach then this is the place for you! Me and my family ordered oxtails and curry chicken for takeout and though the flavor was there, the intense food poisoning that fell upon the house the next few days was riveting. My grandmother has been having blowouts up her backside the past 2 days and me and my 3 other family members have been plagued with severe pain and other things I'll spare details with. We are not new to Jamaican cuisine and so the only other explanation would be that something was either spoiled or the kitchen itself may be lacking cleanliness. If you take your chances I hope you have a better experience than we did. PS. the Mac n cheese was tasteless and mushy so don't order it.

Never order from this place. I ordered through Uber Eats. I ordered large oxtail with 2 sides and I paid for an extra side. I also ordered beef patty. Everything was cold tge mac and cheese tasted musty and old . The large oxtail was not large but 4 Medium size oxtail that tast old. I called the man who answered was rude and offered that I called. They don't do good business do not eat here you will be disappointed!!

A very pleasant find for quick and inexpensive take-out. Many sides to choose from to accompany your jerked chicken.
