The Nakama food truck once came to my office building, and my sushi was so good that every day I walk outside my building and hope that the food truck is back

Service was great. She was very helpful and prompt. The chef was cool too. Nice guy. The ambiance was nice, open air, classic esthetic for hibachi. The food was delicious; I had sushi, hamachi chicken and a drink. Everything was delicious! Their garlic butter is amazing!

I had such a fun time at this hibachi spot over the weekend! It was easy to get a reservation, but I would still recommend making one in order to guarantee sitting at the hibachi tables. Our chef was friendly & fun - we had a blast! Is it the best food you've ever had? No. But it is a fun experience & exactly what you'd want from a hibachi place? Yes!Food: B+Drinks: BService: B+Ambiance: A-

I have been going to Nakama for years and unfortunately the restaurant has gone down hill quite a bit recently. I recently went for hibachi on a Wednesday night to celebrate my friend's birthday and the restaurant was nearly empty. They no longer do anything when it is someone's birthday. They used to used to use a gong and wish someone a happy birthday. They still ask if it's a special occasion, but then do nothing. The prices have also noticeably increased and they are now adding a 3.5% fee to use a credit card. They also charge you extra for soup and salad when you get hibachi. This all used to be included. It all equates to about a 30-35% increase. The quality of food has also gone down and the portions are much smaller. Sadly, I would not recommend Nakama anymore, which is ashame because it used to be one of my favorites. Higher prices, new fees, and lower quality food. Not great.

My significant other and I celebrated our 4 years together!! He surprised me with Nakama, neither of us have been and he heard really good things from his coworker. Surprisingly on the South Side we found parking a bit easier than expected. We still had to drive around for a bit though to find it but it was like not even half a block from the restaurant. I got the maguro spicy roll which was pretty good (wish it was more spicy). As an entree I got the shrimp hibachi which was soooooo good. We sat at the hibachi table and our chef was so fun! We were sat with a family at first we were bummed about it but the dad was absolutely hilarious roasting his kids whenever any of them brought out their cell phones. I also ended up singing happy birthday to their 9 year old son, he gave me a weird look but who's gonna pass up singing that?!We cannot wait to make it back!

Let me start by saying I didn't pick this place. It was one of my daughter's volleyball teammates who picked it for a team dinner. I wasn't very thrilled because of the limited vegetarian options. While we were waiting for a few in our group to arrive I went to my my favorite review app to see what I was in for. I was disappointed to see how low their rating is compared to the price. That being said, the service was fantastic, the food was tasty, and I would definitely recommend if you like hibachi. Personally not my thing, but that's ok. The server and chefs were very very attentive to making sure everyone got exactly what they wanted and cooked it to their liking.

Food is average at best when compared to other hibachi places you've been before. When considering the price it's even worse.I will say my service was excellent in terms of the waitress but they didn't "play the hits" you would expect from a hibachi place. No onion volcano, which like whatever it's stupid but I love it. No throwing food into the mouth, which I consider an essential. Overall the "performance" element of the dining was bad. In terms of ambiance, it was a "yuppie" restaurant in a hibachi outfit. Super cool if I was drinking coffee at midday, but no hype whatsoever that I come to expect with hibachi. Overall, I wouldn't come here again. Food was fine but you won't get the classics that come with a hibachi night out. Why? I can't answer that.

Not a great experience. The first thing we noticed was the place was very smokey. It seems like the ventilation for the hibachi tables wasn't working properly. They also seemed short staffed because the bartender was also waiting tables. He was nice, but the service was a bit slow. For the food, we both ordered a hibachi dinner. It was very average, and we both felt a bit ill afterwards. The prices are also way too high for what they serve. We won't be returning.

Only thing i can think to blame this on is a change in ownership in recent years. And I'm not even sure that's the issue. It's honestly sad because Nakama used to be so good. ZERO filtration. You're sitting in a smoke stack the entire time. You will leave smelling like food. A child size portion. No leftovers. Steak was overcooked. Prices went up. Just a really bad experience. Truly sad to see. Hopefully they get better ownership or just close their doors. RIP Nakama of old.

I NEVER do this so it's pretty bad. I used to frequent Nakama a few years ago. When I say frequent I mean like 2x a month. It was mine and my ex husbands FAVORITE spot. Some things happened and COVID, and I haven't been there in a while. Well I tried it once like 2 years ago and it wasn't the best but it was still okay. I ordered today though? Oh my goodness. The DISAPPOINTMENT. First of all, like all businesses their prices have increased. That's not my problem, I will pay for good food, that's the key word though, good. The shrimp that were once so large you needed to cut them in half have become small baby shrimp you can eat in one bite. The "meal" that used to come with salad, soup, and veggies made me PAY for the salad, with brown and wilted lettuce upon arrival, that doesn't happen in transit, it has to be wilted at the restaurant, and offered no soup. Came with no dipping sauce, I had to order it extra. All said and done I paid over $70 dollars (for the dinner alone, not including tip or fees for delivery) and I have never been more disappointed. I don't know if ownership has changed or what but the Nakama that I loved and was visiting 2x a month is LONG gone. This was the worst food experience and waste of money I've ever had. If I could give 0 stars I would.
