Finally another Malatang options in Pittsburgh! I didn't know they were open at first but I kept seeing their Malatang sign while waiting for Kung Fu bubble tea. I have been there several times since it is open. Overall LOVE IT! Totally satisfied my Malatang craving. Nice broth with fresh ingredients. I like that the pricing options based on meats options rather than weight ($9.99 for 3 vegs and 2 meats). They are def generous with all meats and vegetables too. Note: if you do not like oily food, this is not for you. It is normal that it is this oily.

Steam table hot pot - you choose your noodles, your ingredients and your soup base and they prepare it for you.Fresh ingredients are fairly limited - cabbage, book choy, lettuce and broccoli. Most of the ingredients are frozen processed foods. I, fortunately, love fish and tofu products smashed together together in all their glorious cake and patty forms. It is worth noting that the crazy hot soup base is primarily flavored with Szechuan peppercorn. An overall solid addition to Squirrel Hill, but not a shining star.

Ordered some hotpot takeout for lunch! The place looks like it would normally be a fast-casual, Chipotle-style joint during non-Covid times. The food was prepared in a timely manner and we appreciated the extensive meat and vegetable selection! My boyfriend and I shared the 7 meat and 7 vegetable combo and it was plenty of food for the two of us.

Soo obsessed with their malatang broth! It's very flavorful with a nice kick of spice. Malatang is similar to hotpot, but everything is together in a bowl - you're own personal hotpot! I always crave it at least once a week and often make it at home but my broth is never as good as theirs.I like that the price isn't by weight and you can make your own bowl, Chiptole-style. The price is a little steep, ($16.79 for noodles, 5 meat + 5 veggies) but I think it's worth it for the amount of food. It's always a treat for me. Something that I enjoyed was that they put the noodles in a separate container with some broth, which means you get more food. It's always a silly moment when the workers speak Chinese to me but I can't respond back because I can't speak mandarin (lol).

My soup came, leaking all through the bag... and it was more oil than broth... which made the flavor non exist and and stained my pants. The noodles were half cooked, soggy on the bottom of the separate container and under cooked on the top. I just haven't been able to find a good noodle dish in Pittsburgh. I miss the west coast.
