Moraine State Park has so much to offer their visitors all year round. Whether it be hiking, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, or overnight camping, it's the perfect setting for fun and relaxation. Good for solo or group activities. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water and the freedom to explore the lake and everything surrounding us.

I love going to Moraine to hike, swim, picnic and usually to stand up paddle board on Lake Arthur. I put my SUP in & then can swim after at their little beach. They have concession stands open in summer. Many hiking trails. Restrooms. There is a South & North shore so each is different. Great Regatta in August. Definitely a state park worth checking out.

I've been visiting Moraine State Park since I was young, and I'm not alone. Their website boasts that more than 1 million people enjoy visiting Moraine every year! From its man-made lake to its surrounding park, this beautiful area is the perfect spot for a number of outdoor activities. Hiking, camping, cycling, boating...all that and more! It makes Moraine a wonderful place to enjoy the best of every season. And this park is large enough (16,725 acres) that even during the busy summer months, if you want to find a secluded area to just take in the day, you'll be able to find one. What's particularly amazing about Moraine, I think, is that the land was reclaimed from industrial development. Formerly the home of coal mining and oil and gas drilling, decades of work returned the space to its green state in the 1970s. Keep that in mind and Moraine becomes all the more impressive and beautiful!I highly recommend a day (or more) at Moraine to all of my fellow outdoor lovers. Be sure to take advantage of their website to help plan your adventure in this massive park!

This is a great park just north of Pittsburgh and a great escape from the city. The gem of the park is the lake, where there are plenty of places for a picnic, hiking, swimming, fishing, etc. It did get extremely busy when I was visiting during a hot summer day but that was to be expected. Plan accordingly and enjoy your visit here! It's a great place!

Went on a fall hike for my birthday and it was beautiful! I'm not sure which hike we ended up doing because we started one and got off the trail somehow and ended up wandering around various parts of the park. Though it wasnt exactly what we were expecting given the fact that we got off the trail we started on, it was probably better. We saw many different parts of the park and the fall leaves were amazing!

This is going to be short. I really can't say much more about this place as it has been said before. Also because the day that we showed up here there were rolling storms coming through. Each time we stopped to do something here it would pour down rain. You can't hold that against a place, weather cannot be controlled. What I can say is that it is beautiful. Why haven't I been here before. Oh, wait, I was, I just blocked it out and it was years ago while I was in college. Maybe I'll be able to get here someday soon when the weather will be nice enough for me to enjoy everything that this place has to offer.

I absolutely love the state park I come here all the time and I always catch fish and the people here are always super chill and nice I always bring my RV and have no people complaining and I'm always able to find a private little island to chill at on the lake. No cops or forest rangers giving you any problems. There's even a gas station right next to it call pilot where you can even stay the night in your RV is open 24 seven.

Beautiful state park with a nice driving route for views of the lakes and trees. Great for boats and sailing as well! I love that this park is only about 30 minutes from Pittsburgh but it feels like a totally different world--serene and quiet. Loved looking at the leaves today and hope to be back soon!

My review of Moraine State Park is only for the bike trail. Though based on that alone I will be back for more adventures. The bike trail at Moraine is quite possibly my favorite of all the trails I've been on. Granted, I'm still relatively new to biking. But the bike trail here is tops for several reasons. It's paved which means easy riding. At times it feels like you're riding through the middle of the woods. At other times you're rolling along the gorgeous lake. The trees provide shade when it's sunny for the better part of the trail. And while there are some ups and downs when they are combined with the curves you can pick up some pretty good speed and feel like a kid speeding around. There are also bathrooms as well as several benches and shelters to stop for a rest, snack or lunch along the trail. At just over 7 miles one way, my round trip ride totaled 15 miles. The bike trail is easy to find (just look for the bike rentals on North Shore). From the parking lot I saw hiking trailheads, including one for the North Country Trail. Marina and beach access are also nearby for water activities. With so much to explore at Moraine State Park I'm glad to have it close by. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get outdoors.
