For my brothers birthday he chose to have dinner at his favorite place, Monte Cello's. As always it was a great visit. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table of 4, not bad at all. This time I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was terrific! Loves the garlic sauce and the angel hair noodles. Highly recommend!

Monte Cello's is a local Italian restaurant chain that has several locations in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. This location in Ross Township is my favorite. Their menu lists appetizers such as zucchini planks and pepperoni rolls, soups, salads, pizzas, burgers, wraps, calzones, pastas, and entrees such as lasagna and salmon.My husband and I have been customers here many times over the years--for dining inside the restaurant as well as for catering for a family event and for a homeless shelter. The hostesses, waitresses, and cooks have always provided prompt and courteous service.Here are my reviews for some foods that we ate inside the restaurant:Garlic breadsticks - 5 stars - My husband described these garlic breadsticks as "Oh, yeah!" good. We nearly always order them.Shrimp scampi - 4 stars - The noodles and shrimp were cooked well. I enjoyed the flavors, but the dish contained slightly too much oil and garlic.Chicken parmesan - 5 stars - This chicken parmesan is our favorite menu item, and we most often order it. The pieces of chicken were large and juicy. The pasta noodles on the side were cooked well. Strawberry-shrimp-pecan salad - 5 stars - This salad was a large size and contained very fresh ingredients. I savored every bite. Cannoli - 5 stars - Two cannolis contained sweet ricotta and chocolate. I usually do not like cannolis, but I did enjoy these ones.Here is my review for some catered foods:For a fairly large family get-together at my house, I called Monte Cello's over the phone to order catered food. I ordered a half tray of garden salad with dressing, a half tray of penne with marinara sauce, a half tray of lasagna, a half tray of chicken parmesan, a half tray of chicken marsala, a half tray of roast beef, a small tray of green beans amandine, and a small tray of roasted potatoes. These "half" and "small" trays were actually very generously sized. After 16 people ate their meals, we still had lots of the food leftover to take home! You can see in my attached photos how much food was leftover after the first round of eating! The total price for all of this food was a very reasonable price.As for the taste of the foods, my favorite foods were the penne, chicken parmesan, chicken marsala, and roasted potatoes. My husband really liked the roast beef. My husband's cousin really liked the lasagna.

We had a taste for Italian and found this place on Yelp. Nice Family own restaurant where the Locals go, it was busy and we only had a 10 minute wait. We ordered the Margarita Flatbread for Appetizer that was good, sweet tomato sauce and a nice crust. I got the Homemade Lasagna which was good and Hubby got the Shrimp Scampi which was just ok to him, it was bland and the sauce was watery, both came with Garden Salad and Bread. I got a Ho Ho Cake to go which consists of Chocolate filled Buttercream Frosting, that was yummy. Our Server Nicholas was polite and attentive and kept our Drinks refilled, that was a plus.

A great restaurant. Whether you sit down and eat or place an order for pick up, you still get a high quality dinner. Since Covid started, pick up orders are efficiently part of this restaurant's business. Their computer system has your past info as well as an accurate system for placing your order. Today the restaurant was packed. I called in an order, they said 30 minutes, and they were right. Pizzas are excellent. Calzones are made to order. I had the Shrimp Scampi. Complete with salad and bread. Hot and super garlicky. The only downside is I must remember to request 1/2 garlic.

Ordered food online. Arrived at restaurant to collect order. Was told they did not receive it. After explaining it was send to the restaurant and showing documentation they said they could reenter the order, but I would have to pay again and then take up online charge w credit card co. After push back they acknowledged they received the order, but didn't process it. Most frustrating part was staff was completely unapologetic about the situation and insinuated it was not their fault. Do not order online. Better yet, do not order from monte cello.
