4.5 stars overall. Monte Cello's is a casual Italian restaurant chain in the Pittsburgh area. This location in Hampton serves several appetizers such as wings, zucchini planks, soups, and salads; dozens of entrees such as pizzas, burgers, calzones, pastas, shrimp scampi, and chicken marsala; and some desserts such as tiramisu and lemon cream cake. Prices are reasonable. My husband and I ate dinner here on a Saturday evening. Of course, the restaurant was busy with other customers. The seating hostess told us that our wait would be 15-20 minutes, but it was actually 30 minutes. I saw another couple angrily leave after waiting for 30 minutes. We were seated at a clean and comfortable booth. About 10 minutes later, a waitress introduced herself and took our order. Throughout the service, this waitress was very nice, and she gave us drink refills twice. Here are my reviews for our foods:Caramelized walnut apple salad - 4 stars - This salad was a large size and contained fresh ingredients of spring mix, grilled chicken breast, walnuts, slices of Granny Smith apples, and apple cider vinaigrette dressing.Mini traditional pizza - 4.5 stars - This pizza had about four slices, and I chose toppings of green peppers and mushrooms. I liked the flavors of these vegetables as well as the crust, cheese, and sauce. (Other sizes of pizzas are small, medium, large, and extra-large, and many different toppings of vegetables and meats are available.)Chicken parmesan - 5 stars - This entree is my husband's favorite at Monte Cello's, and he nearly always orders it. The chicken had a crispy exterior and a juicy interior and was topped with a tasty sauce and cheese. On the side were a fresh salad and garlic bread that was nicely toasted and deliciously buttery. Garlic butter bread sticks - 5 stars - My husband also always orders these bread sticks. We enjoyed the focaccia bread, garlic butter, Romano cheese, seasonings, and side sauce.

It's probably 3.5 stars, but we'll bump up to 4. One of the many Monte Cello's in the area. I will say I think like the Shaler one a little better, but this one is the one closest to us. Is it going to knock your socks off with its culinary creativity? Definitely not. Is it a reasonably priced, reasonably convenient Italian option for the family that can't decide pizza or pasta? Yes. At least it is for our house. Pizza - It's a 3.5. I like their original crust. It's thin, with a light crunch. But I find it's a little too cheesy for me. We never get more than one or two toppings, because the pizza just can't hold up under all the cheese.Pasta - probably a 4. I like that there are more than just a few pasta options. So again, finding something for everyone tends to be pretty easy with Monte Cello's. From chicken or eggplant parm to spaghetti with meat sauce to chicken alfredo. And the portions are plenty big. Almost always enough for leftovers.

We were in town staying with friends that live in Allison, PA for the night. The highly suggested Monte Cello's pizza for dinner. So we called them up. We placed an order for two pizzas for take out. I hear it was hectic when the guys went to pick up the pizza. The brought the pies home and we opened the pizza boxes only to find that they made us a Barbeque Chicken pizza instead of the Buffalo Chicken pizza that we had ordered. We called and they were unwilling to deliver the proper pizza. We agreed to pick up the actual type of pizza that we had originally ordered. Ultimately we didn't get to eat our pizzas together because we didn't want the pizza we had that was right to get cold. And it cost us the time together and the gas to go get the correct pizza. When we were able to finally take a bite of the buffalo pizza it was shockingly delicious. The buffalo heat was not overbearing. I would almost call it subtle. The perfect amount of buffalo heat. It was by far my favorite pizza of the three pizzas we ended up with. I would never order their Margherita pizza again. The BBQ chicken pizza was middle of the road. But their Buffalo pizza is top notch! I loved it!!! And I would suggest it to anyone. My other suggestion would be to just double check your to go order before leaving the restaurant, because Monte Cello's is far from apologetic or accommodating for fixing their mistake.

Another of the various Monte Cello's locations in the area. I recently ordered stuffed Banana Peppers for takeout. The stuffed peppers were good but lacked any heat. Usually stuffed Banana Peppers are spicy but my order was surprisingly mild. Takeout service was very fast and friendly.

I drove by this place hundreds of times without ever stopping. Maybe part of the reason is that it's set back from the road & is in a shopping plaza; I never rationalized why, even though it's very close to where I live. So this past week when a group of neighbors were going for dinner, we decided to join them & weren't disappointed.Inside wasn't much to look at, so it doesn't seem like a place for a special occasion, but our food was just fine, which was sufficient for us. Two servers seemed to handle our group of about 15 exclusively, which seemed to work well. I never felt ignored throughout the time. And even though we were part of a largish group, we were able to order from the full menu, not a limited version as sometimes happens with groups. We ordered a pizza, which was very good & a main course large salad with grilled chicken, which was also quite good. I had asked for a couple tweaks to the listed ingredients for the salad & between the server and the kitchen, it happened. All the vegetables seemed fresh & the chicken was tasty. I ordered iced tea as a beverage, which seemed to be brewed in-house (which isn't always the case these days), which was also good (not weak), and re-fillable. We might have also ordered an appetizer if they had calamari, but they don't. We also didn't order dessert. The restaurant was fine with providing separate checks for this group, which consisted of several couples & likely a few solo diners, as sometimes, restaurants don't like doing this. It would have been messy if we had to divvy-up the check ourselves. One thing that surprised me was that they didn't provide italian bread & better or olive oil, which is typical at most Italian restaurants I've gone to over the years. I was OK not having it, just surprised. They also didn't put down glasses of water for everyone, but provided it for those who wanted it, as I recall. Since they're located in a shopping plaza, there was plenty of parking. I intend to go again.

Tried to place a dinner order for pickup. We normally go to a closer Monte cellos but they were closed on Sunday. The same dinner order was $78 at the Hampton site versus $44 at another site ! Ridiculous ! Cancelled order and will not order from nor go there in the future.

Monte Cello's in Hampton is one of the only locations with jacked up prices. I'm serious you can download the menus on their website. Hamptons is the most expensive for pizza compared to Cranberry, Shaler, and Babcock Blvd. If you want to have good expensive pizza go to Caliente or Bellisario's.

Had a bridal shower at this restaurant on Saturday. I did not get one complaint from the women that attended and that alone should tell you something! We ordered pizza and salads and ravioli and they were all very good. The server, Gigi, couldn't have been better and the owner Maria was also quite easy to work with! I definitely recommend this place for dinner and also for an event!
