Mimo's Pizza Company

Really great food, friendly, quick service, and vegan options! I'm on a road trip and I did not expect to find a vegan friendly place out here, but I came across Mimo's and had to give them a try. They had both vegan and gluten-free options on the menu, making Mimo's a thoroughly inclusive restaurant. I ordered a vegan Stromboli combo. The serving size was very generous, the crust was cooked just right and the ingredients were super fresh! It was also loaded with lots of vegan cheese, so I was stuffed by the end of the meal. Service was also very friendly and fast. I'd love to come back here again and try a vegan pizza! I just wish I didn't live over 1,000 miles away.

My sister and I have decided recently that on most Friday's we will attempt to try something new for dinner. We usually do that by Yelp roulette. Pull up the app, type in a random search word, and see what pops up.I have to say that I disagree with what appears to be the most recent review for this place. The prices are are not "out of scope" as they put it. In all actuality the prices were spot on for what you are paying for. If you are looking for gourmet prices I can give you the name of a few places and the duration it will take you to get there.It is a small space with booths on the inside with some small tables. They also have outside seating available. Small gated off area on the sidewalk. But not to fear, it does not take up the sidewalk, it actually is a pretty big sidewalk.When you come in, it is an establishment that allows you to seat yourself. A lot of the business seems to be delivery and/or pick up. You basically get what appears like a take out menu to look over. Once you decide you go to the counter and place your order. Drinks are bottles and self serve.We went with the Loaded Pizza Fries, Garlic Bread, and a large combo pizza. It took a while for the food to come out, but like I mentioned, just because you are sitting in here does not mean they are not already busy with take out/delivery orders. Our appetizers came out first. I did not try the garlic bread as I was saving room for the pizza. I did dive into the pizza fries. What appears to be a medium pizza pan is covered with a heap of fries. Then to place sauce, pepperoni, and cheese on top of them all, amazing. This comes with marinara sauce to dip the fries in. When you get the right combination of all the ingredients on the pan, you got a great combination. The cheese around the edges was of the burnt variety and a nice touch. Kind of one of my favorite things, burnt cheese.The pizza, let's talk about it. When you order a combo you can get up to five toppings for the price of the pizza. If you are toppings fanatic, go crazy. We just went with a classic pairing of pepperoni and sausage. The slices were fairly big for a large. Just enough grease on the pizza that it wasn't dripping off or made the dough a wet mess. The pepperoni did that curling thing that makes them a cup, traps the grease a bit and has that crispy rim.There was so much food that we ended up taking half the pizza and half the fries home. We ended up looking like we ordered take out when we left.So no, David S., the prices are not too far out of scope here. Everything was delicious and we ended up walking out with loads of food to enjoy later.

Mimo's is a great restaurant. I've never had a bad meal there. The outdoor seating in summer adds fun. The location in Windber is perfect and the parking lot is adequate. We ordered soda as two different Strombolis. Both were fresh and hot. The vegetable one, according to my partner, was delicious with two kind of cheese. I had extra pepperoni and onions on mine. The only flaw was that the pepperoni was not spread out as much as I would have liked. Everything else reached to the edges.

If you have been eating as a sad little gluten-free person - gazing longingly at foods you can't eat, remembering the good old days when you could chow down on whatever struck your fancy... go to Mimo's and try the GF stuffed shells. Your feelings of deprivation will fade into the shadows and a warm happiness will flood over you. (At least, it's possible.)

We are more than a little disappointed with our most recent delivery order, which arrived a few minutes ago. We ordered breaded mushrooms, a combo regular pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni, onions, sausage, and green peppers; the last item was a medium white garlic pizza with mushrooms and onions. The first pizza was just to be "regular" cooked. The latter pizza was to be CRISPY. Needless to say it was not anywhere even close to being crispy! The pizza itself really tasted good, but that is only part of the experience we had. The pizza piece was as crispy as a cooked spaghetti noodle and was so "twisty and bendy" (read flexible) that we were so incredibly disappointed. When I called the store to talk to someone about my pizza, this also left ALOT to be desired. I was told repeatedly that it starts out crispy and then gets really soft "when the oil and cheese set in with a delivery". I tried explaining why I was so dissatisfied and was told that there really wasn't anything they could do because the cook said he had cooked it crispy to start with and it was just the length of time that made it very soft. This might have been acceptable except for the fact that we only live about 6 blocks away from the restaurant and it shouldn't have had the TIME to get mushy. Additionally, the real kicker was when my HUSBAND'S pizza was as crisp as all get out!!!! When we informed the restaurant that if need be that we would take our business elsewhere, we were told that since the cook said he DID make it crispy that they couldn't do anything!I believe that what it all boils down to is customer service, or a lack thereof. People make mistakes, which is why one can call in with their concerns/complaints. When a problem is discovered, the focus should be to either remake the item or manage the issue in some other reasonable way. When item is ordered one way but is received another, this is unacceptable! At this point, our latest experience has had a marginal at best quality of the food and extremely poor customer service. I can't help but to think that in their pursuit to become some kind of hoity-toity restaurant that customer service is what has been sacrificed in the process. We have ordered from them countless times and eat in the restaurant on a regular basis. We have had minor problems previously but things were handled quite differently. Were we dissatisfied and disappointed? Definitely! Will we order from them again or eat in the restaurant? HE** NO!!!!! How sad this is that a staple of our little town's 'ambience' is reduced to this. :-( (pictures to follow)

A model of consistency in Windber for my entire lifetime. Great New York-style pizzas with wonderful salty cheese and sweet sauce. The highlight is always the crust for me. I'm also a big fan of their individual Stromboli with the works and side salads with their homemade bread. Friendly waitstaff and great beer selection.

The son took over and is trying to turn it into a 5 star restaurant all us small town people want is out old mimos back ... it looks nice don't get me wrong but the portion got very small not worth the price

The food is delicious. I love everything I have eaten here. The service is good, as well as the ambiance. I eat there whenever I am out and about. My favorites are the hot ham and cheese sub, spaghetti and meatballs and stromboli. The only problem I have are the hours. I wish they would open earlier.

First impression was not good at all. When we went in we had to seat ourselves, as there were 4 of us we had to move a table and chairs so we could all seat together. No waitress as we had to order and pay at a counter then sit down and wait for a server to bring our food. Food was only average but with the wait, putting another table so the 4 of us could sit together we won't be back there again.

We love Mimo's!!! My family is fromWindber, so I grew up visiting the area a couple times a year, so Mimo's became a household favorite and vacation staple. When my husband and I drove through town a few weeks ago I just knew I had to introduce him to the famous Italian menu. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza and he got a stromboli. Amazing as always!! Fabulous friendly staff and even better food. Great job Mimo's!!!! We will always be fans!
