Really fantastic. Bold flavors with lots of great options on a fairly expansive menu. We ordered takeout, and the ordering experience was extremely easy. Everything was well-packaged, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. This certainly wasn't health food, with a good layer of oil sitting on the top of various dishes, but it was very flavorful with a nice combination of vegetables and textures. The space has the feel of something that might have previously been a bar, but that gives the place an inviting and comfortable vibe. I'm definitely looking forward to heading back in the future to try a few different items from the menu.

Just so so, and somewhat underwhelming. Very small portions ( $18 for an entree should include more than a small heap of rice) and I got an eggplant dish ( gutti vankaya) that wasn't all the way cooked through, it was tough... the dish itself was not very flavorful, considering it to be Indian cuisine. The menu online and that on location do vary, so what we hoped to order was not availableWe wouldn't return for a second time.

An Indian FEAST! Since my trip to India, I have been craving authentic Indian cuisine. This BYOB restaurant hit the spot! Anyone who has heard me talk about Indian food knows that my favorite dish is chilli paneer, and it is surprisingly hard to find that dish here in Pittsburgh! Masala House has it & it is delicious (but definitely heavy on the spice level!). We followed that with lamb koorma, tandoori chicken, & goat vindaloo. All of the food was delicious, and we definitely love a good BYOB! I can't believe I hadn't been here before...I'll definitely be back!Food: A-Drinks: N/AAtmosphere: BService: B-

Really enjoyed this experience. Restaurant week for sit down all you can eat. The concept was a little confusing in terms of how you ordered. Seemed to be a few mains to select from and all the endless options thereafter. Wasn't sure what I could get more of and whatnot. A more clear menu would have helped. The star by all 4 at my table was the fish soup. Server was very nice!

Our usual Indian place was closed on Sunday, so we opted for this excellent 2nd. Caution- it's definitely spicy! The butter chicken was tasty. We got a chef special - andhra pulusu- which was pretty tasty. The fresh curry leaves in it were really good. Samosa chaat was a bit dry. The garlic naan was excellent. We'll be back.

For indecisive diners, Masala House makes it easy. They have it narrowed down to two lunch choices: Vegetarian Thali plate Non-Veg Thali plateFive little bowls (refills available upon request)Tandoori chicken legGenerous basmati riceOne Galub Jamun (fried donut soaked in honey/sugar and rose water)Limitless naan5-6 dessert options - I recommend the mango mansari (?)

Pittsburgh keeps surprising me. Never thought there would be decent Indian food here but I'm glad I'm wrong. Masala House is a small eatery that caters the most popular Indian standards which I think are done pretty well.We ordered chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, shrimp curry, chicken tandoori as well as a bunch of naan. Everything was made fresh and the food was on par with Indian restaurants in NYC. The best dish was a tie between the shrimp curry and the chicken tikka which both had succulent sauces that complemented our bread basket. Prices are reasonable and service was good. Food came out a bit slow but that was about the worst of it. Worth a stop in if you like Indian food.

I got the all you can eat lunch special for $18, which includes the naan. It is a ton of great food for pretty cheap! I really liked the tandoori chicken (middle on rice), chicken tikka masala (bottom left), and goat curry (bottom middle). Everything was good! The service was really good, and they will quickly bring out additional servings of each item! The inside of the restaurant is also nice.
