Just happened to stumble into here on a recent trip to the neighborhood and found that it was more impressive than I thought. I was expecting a kind of weird, limited supermarket. Especially since it falls under the IGA name. What I got was a full on market that offered many Hispanic items as well as your typical IGA fare.I really enjoy Mexican food and will go out of my way to find some good stuff. Now I know where to go to find all the items I will need for my next meal I make at home. They offer a wide array of items in here from meats to candy.I ended up getting myself a few Sprites that are made in Mexico as it is made with real sugar and not the corn syrup they use in the US. They do have hot, ready made food available for purchase out on the street. If I hadn't already eaten, and had my hands full, I would have definitely gotten some to go.

Not sure if this is a hidden gem or just hidden to me! If you're a fan of Mexican products of almost any kind, this is the place to go. I could've roamed the aisles for ages, but stopped in to grab some goodies and go. Could use a fresh sweep and some organization, but overall, this is such a great resource for locals and beyond!

I think people who run this place just don't care anymore. The cooler is broke a d has been broke for months, so all the beverages are warm. Imagine buying the frozen foods stored in there. Food poisoning.Nothing has price stickers and you never get an itemized bill. Absolutely unprofessional workers. Many canned foods are expired. Better check those expiration dates.Overpriced everything. They shamelessly take advantage of the neighborhood since there are not that many groceries options unless you drive out of your way. There are no pricing stickers on most of items. You buy blindly then they overcharge you at checkout when it's too late. The open food containers contain cold dry servings i would not feed to my dog. They should be fined by city inspectors. I can't believe health officials let it operate. Somebody os getting paid under the table..People leaving this disaster 4 and 5 stars are probably buddies of these pandejos. You don't fool no one. Just go in there see for yourself.

This is the third Las Palmas Market and Taqueria in Pittsburgh. This will be a review of the taqueria. The menu is simple, tacos and quesadillas. 2.50 and 3.50 respectively. The tacos are fantastic, authentic Mexican street tacos. They come with two corn tortillas and your choice of meat (chorizo, pollo, carnitas, asada, fajita, and lomo (a small ribeye steak)). My favorites are the chorizo, chicken, and lomo. Each are delicious, moist, and fresh. I've never had a bad taco and their serving sizes are large, three tacos and I'm stuffed. The quesadillas are delicious as well. Lots of gooey cheese and you get a meat filling. They cook the cheese right on the grill, giving it this tasty crunchy exterior. After you get your tacos you have a wide selection of toppings and salsas to choose from. Cilantro, onions, pico de Gallo, pickled spicy onions and peppers, three extremely hot salsas and more. You can pay with cash at the taco stand or head inside the market before you order to purchase tacos with a credit or debit card (just get in the check out line and let them know you're ordering tacos). Tacos are one of my favorite foods and I had high expectations for Las Palmas and it 100% delivers. Simple, perfect tacos at a great price. Without a doubt the most authentic and tasty tacos in Pittsburgh. Be sure to check them out.

Well stock market. Plus you can find everything you need Mexican. The produce section is limited, but you can find hard to get items like guavas, cactus pears, green tomatoes, and really fresh cilantro and that's just a small sample. They have every dried chili you would need for any Mexican recipe. Walk around you'll find cinnamon sticks and a plethora of ingredients not found in common grocery stores. This place is a real treasure

With Las Palmas Carniceria's takeover of IGA has come nothing but vibrant things. This IGA now sells all manner of Latin groceries including, meats, spices, confections, and odd fruits one doesn't often see in area supermarkets. It appears that most of the employees have been retained along with a bunch of new, happy faces. That taco cart still broils and attracts the hungry outside near the parking lot while another stand in front of the automatic door peddles soups, tamales, coffee, and some other things I'm not familiar with (see Becca R's review). Regardless, this new development has been a very positive one. And they continue to stock all the same old stuff, including my Isaly's chipped ham. Shame on them for no longer carrying Schneider's, though. Instead, they are now selling a brand I can do without and forget the name of, BUT, they have Jarritos soda, which is becoming my new compulsion, particularly the tamarind flavor. Great Scott! It tastes just like Schneider's with fizz!

I give 3 stars only for the tacos outside. Inside is not too good. DO NOT buy meats there. Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs were turning green in the package. The Deli meats are old and not very good. I bought Serbet there that had frozen and thawed several times and was inedible.

I truly don't believe there's a such thing as too much fresh produce or piñatas. What a blessing to have this awesome place in walking distance to my doorstep! Good prices, friendly staff.. sometimes I just walk around in here.

If your looking to make homemade traditional mexican food this is the best place for you. Second best resonable prices on ingredients compared to Reyna foods in the strip district. Love the El milagro corn maiz tortillas. Ill eat those straight up or with some cheese in between 2 tortillas. Their hot foods section and outdoor tortilla bar is worth a visit but you will need cash. Worth the trip!

Went for the tacos, didn't end up getting them because all of the containers storing the meat/veggies for the tacos were open and FULL of flies. Then, I went into the store and noticed that they had food on the shelves that had expired 2 YEARS AGO. Absolutely disgusting!!
