Mamma Lucia's Pizzeria

Very good food. Pizza was crispy. I had spaghetti with meat balls with garlic, good quality and portion size. Friendly staff very welcoming. The decor is very welcoming, mellow vibe. Definitely recommend.

I never reviewed this spot when it was right across the street from my office building and in a much smaller location. I never stayed for dine-in then, as the place was pretty run down and tiny, but I'd sometimes place an online order and get it to go. I knew they were moving to the Oliver Building (Sixth or Smithfield depending on your approach) due to being uprooted by new development, but didn't realize they had opened until I was on the way to somewhere else for lunch today, passed their bustling new location and abruptly changed my plans.The new space is open, clean and bright. This is now a location where you can grab a slice at the counter to take out, order in advance, or grab lunch with a couple coworkers. They have specials like a slice of lasagna for $5.99, and breakfast pizza for $2.99, which includes egg and cheese. I am definitely coming back to try that in the morning hours! I believe there is also a breakfast calzone with the same fillings.Being a somewhat boring pizza eater, I got two slices of plain. I often used to get their thick crust which I recall is very good. The thin is good, too. It's not my favorite thin crust, if I'm being honest. I prefer a crisper NY style, and this one is just a little doughy for my taste. But this is an honest, straightforward pizza slice and the workers are friendly and fast. I'll also definitely try a hoagie and some of their other menu items here.Terrific to see this family-owned place reborn in the new space, looking even better for the move!

A little hard to find as their door is actually on 6th Ave, but it's worth the search. I ordered 2 cuts of Sicilian w sausage and 2 meatballs on the side. Their meatballs were always delicious- I hope they still are. Pics to follow...

My review is based on the quality of the food, not the ambiance of the restaurant. To sum up Mamma Lucia Pizza, the food is great, but the restaurant is a dump.I walked past Mamma Lucia's this morning and saw the sign for the Friday fish sandwich special. Of course, why would you order fish at a pizza restaurant? By noon, I was ready to try it out.I ordered online through Yelp. Since it was just around the corner from my hotel, the order was still being prepared when I arrived, which was fine. There were a lot of locals there, which is aways a good sign. Reading the menu board, the prices are very reasonable. I always observe the cooks as you can tell a lot about the food based on how they prepare it. I worked as a cook in college, so I appreciate people that know what they are doing. The two guys preparing the food were very good, and the lady taking orders was very nice.For $7.40 for a fish sandwich, fries, and a 16oz drink, you know the fish is going to be frozen. Even so, the two fillets on the sandwich were very good. the lettuce, onion, and tomato were very fresh as well. The portion of fries was very generous, and they had a good choice of 16oz bottled drinks. I also watched the cooks prepare pizzas and calzones, they looked very good as well.Overall, Mamma Lucia Pizza is a great place to get a "working man's/woman's lunch" for a very reasonable lunch, even though I am in Pittsburgh goofing off.

Super good! Surprisingly good! I always hurried passed this one because it looked like your typical hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon places. Thanks to the good reviews I saw here on Yelp, I finally decided to give it a shot. It's a tad confusing to have to go to the back of the place to order your food, but the menu and plenty of friendly folks are there to help you once you get there. The pizza is what I love to get. The price isn't bad and you can get one slice or more, which I love since I don't always want to be stuck with an entire pizza. The pizza. My. Oh. MY. It's so savory! They add plenty of any topping you choose, so you're sure to get the full flavor of whatever you're seeking depending on what you're getting. I have yet to try the other items on the menu, but I know they smell delicious anytime another customer walks away with them. I'll for sure be back to try some of them!

Under new ownership and even better. Old school pizzeria feel inside and great food to go along with it. The best pizza I have had downtown without question. Everything is made with fresh ingredients and you can tell in the flavors. Perfectly crisp crust, great sauce, and delicious cheese. On top of the great food, the employees are super friendly. The owner is a great guy who really appreciates some good ranch dressing. A must stop when downtown.

Pizza was good and a very good chef salad. Great local pizza place in pit near the Omni hotel!

Not much ambiance but fabulous thin crust pizza: great crust, wonderful and plentiful cheese, lots of excellent topping choices. Our 16 inch take away was great hot and fresh and very flavorful and satisfying the next day and the day after reheated in the microwave. The staff were pleasant and fast! If i lived in town i'd be back often! You come too!

Good afternoon so disappointed that I watch the cook prepare multiple orders without gloves are washing his hand very disappointed touch pepperoni and other items with washing his hand .
