Mad Mex - North Hills

I love Mad Mex. My chicken tacos had so much flavor, and it had some good seasoning. I got the crema on the side, and that was a nice burst of freshness. I loved the cilantro on top of the tacos. Also, my plate is colorful...picture worthy. And of course the portion was plentiful! Quick service and a great place for a happy hour. It filled up fast so don't wait too long to get your table!

Stopped by Mad Mex after shopping for a late night dinner. We had the chips and salsa and some really delicious cocktails to start. Tried their mandarin orange margarita with fresh squeezed tangerine lime and tequila and it was pretty bomb (not too sweet and fantastic tequila) and their sangria was totally awesome.For dinner, we both got the grilled chicken tacos that come stuffed full of deliciousness. They have fresh corn, cilantro, crema, and fresh radishes on top of the yummy chicken. The sides are black beans and mexican rice which were perfect.It's a great later dinner option and comes with some fun music and fab art to boot. Service is always good too.

So annoyed. Visited today for my son's birthday at 6:20 because this is where he wanted to go. I get it, it was national taco day, but they had tons of open tables and we were turned away because they said the kitchen was too busy to seat people for an hour. Figure it out, plan accordingly, this is an epic sign of a horribly managed business. This place has been this way for awhile; this is NOT the first time we've walked into a half full restaurant to be put on a massive wait. I would not recommend this business to anyone. Read my prior reviews. They have a systemic problem.

The venue was very American/mexican style Was definitely friendly and good to see for my first time The server was amazing she was on her feet all the time and gave good service The food on the other hand was pretty decent , the salsa verde wasn't too bad but the chips can use more salt The quesadilla was juicy and had good flavor ! And my mandarin marg was pretty alright ! I'd come again but would try other Mexican to see how I compares 3/5

It's been a minute since I paid a visit to Mad Mex - stopped in the other day to celebrate cinco de mayo.Went with the Tres Decadas Taco Trio with a side of rice and beans. This dish included a pork and pineapple taco, a beef birria taco, and their chicken tinga taco. Overall, the pork and pineapple taco was the highlight of the meal.... So good. I will order again. The chicken tinga taco was good, but tasted like your average chicken taco. Beef birria.... unfortunately the worst taco on the entire plate. Huge chunks of mushy beef fat. Bad flavor. I've had birria in the past and this is not it. Avoid at all costs. Side of rice and beans.... Not like your usual Mexican joint lol. Literally just a scoop of wet, whole, unsalted black beans straight out of the can. Not refried. Rice wasn't that great. Just go with the fries for an extra dollar. Margs were tasty. Frozen, on the rocks, salt or sugar.... don't matter. I don't judge. 10/10. A+Chips were hot and tasty. Salsa is pretty average. Overall, great place. Good vibes. Wouldn't hurt if they improved some food items.

So good every single time. Can get very busy during peak hours (to be expected) but to me the food is with the wait. I love the jersey chips and birria quesadilla especially. When they have the apple cider margaritas I always get those, too.

I've been here dozens of times, but it's the first time I'm writing a review. One of the things I love about this place is that it's so consistent, you know exactly what you're getting. You're not coming here to be healthy, or for the best Tex Mex food you'll ever have, but you come here because the food is pretty good, the margaritas are perfection, and they've perfected the chips and salsa game. I think it is absolutely a dining classic in Pittsburgh, especially as one of the few late night establishments. Service is always quick and you can be as fast or slow as you want in here - never feel rushed.

Tacos really didn't have a whole lot of flavor. The margarita wasn't bad but didn't seem to have a whole lot of tequila LOL. The chips and queso was good as well as the chips and salsa not bad. I think we've been here three times in the last 30 years and each time we understand why we have not more often.

I used to come here 1-2 times per week but sad to say things have slowly started to go down hill at this location specifically. While I live 5 minutes away, I find myself staying after work and hitting the robinson location instead. More often than not the glasses are not fully clean and the bar isn't as vibrant since some of the bartenders that made it special have moved elsewhere. The wings are more inconsistently prepared here versus the robinson location as well. With burgatory a mile down with great happy hour apps and now the new primantis across the street, it's a tougher sell to make this a priority anymore

What happened? This portobello quesadilla" which looks like half of one cost me $12.50!!! I used to support MM for Happy Hour for MONTHS but if this is how they treat customers paying full price; no way am I going back.
