Mad Mex

Ambience is really cool. Fully decorated with the Mexican heritage. Also cool seating area outside on Canonsburg lake. My favorite place to get a burrito in Pittsburgh. I always get the steak one. They are gigantic... probably can't even lift it up to eat it may need a fork and knife sadly but also... happily. My actual favorite thing in the menu is the chips and cheese dip. It's got a little bit of heat but for most people that heat is mostly flavor. Love their frozen strawberry margsDifficult to say this about a Mexican spot... but it's true their buffalo wings are solidService is good most of the time!

My husband and I are big mad Mex people. We both agree that this location is nicest atmosphere! We love going for happy hour to get discounted drinks and half price wings - San Fran sauce is the best!

We went the last night my parents were in town so they could check out the view of Canonsburg Lake. My mom absolutely loved the decor and she could not stop taking pictures. Her favorites were the murals in the woman's room and the mural around the fire place. We were seated promptly and our waiter came shortly after. Our waiter was great!! He was very patient with us chatting to each other and browsing the menu. He was also on top of it with the drinks. I got their grilled chicken and corn burrito. Fresh grilled corn with chicken breast, roasted chiles, goat cheese, Monterey Jack cheese and pico de gallo. Topped with Colorado sauce, grilled corn salsa on the side. Just look at that burrito!!! It was filling.

Love Mad Mex and this spot is my favorite. The setup overlooking the lake makes for a cool dining experience, especially in the summer months. The workers also do a really good job here. Our server on our most recent trip, Chris was great.The salsas, guac, and queso are very good. The black bean dip might be my favorite app though. For my meal I usually go with Buffalo chicken tacos or the tofu wrapture (Buffalo tofu wrap). Both have incredible flavor. Their waffle fries and homemade ranch are also must haves.

Mad Mex is a normal spot for us to stop. The Herbivore Tofu Tacos are always my top pick, and I am normally extremely happy with them. This visit was different. Something tasted so "off" with the tacos, the sauce and texture of the tofu were completely different that what I have ordered before. My husband got a burrito which was mostly just filled with rice, no protein or toppings. This is the second time in a row that this happened.

While I feel like Mad Mex is your standard Tex-mex restaurant, it's my husbands favorite, so we frequent here often. We especially love that they have many vegan/dairy-free options, which isn't usually the case at a Mexican restaurant. They also have a great list of specialty margaritas that are definitely worth the price. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and we enjoy the vibes sitting outside, overlooking the lake. Service can be hit or miss, but it's usually pretty good.

Ambiance was good. Nice place to sit outside and have a margarita in the summer. I was there December 13 and very disappointed in the food. My wife felt the same. We have eaten Mexican all over the country and Ashley have a favor in the Erie PA I will not eat at Mad Max again but would sit out on the deck and have margaritas and chips. Can't believe they actually charge you for chips with a meal. The original salsa was very cold and served in a mound. The burrito I had was short on both shrimp and spinach. My wife was not impressed with her honey chipotle Chicken fajita, but the waffle fries were OK. Given my experience I got a really stretch to rate the food quality as a 2 with 5 stars being the best

Cool. Fun. Loud. Great servers. Delicious dips, apps, and mains. Beautiful location overlooking the river and great margaritas.The Shrimp bowl, mahi mahi, steak, and chicken fajitas were humongous and delicious, Just a great time people watching and letting loose had by all. Lots of families and parties small and large. Great date site or place to hang with friends. We will return.

Take out was very delayed (understandably) on a very busy Friday night. However, the gentleman working at the host stand was very rude--mocked me when I asked for an update on timing, just stared and laughed. Food was great as usual, but as a business, I would not want this host representing my establishment.

We went for the famous Gobblerito, and also got some of their wonderful Honey BBQ wings. The Gobblerito is Thanksgiving in a burrito. Very crowded there at 5:00 on a Thursday. Good food and we had an excellent waitress!
