Lou's is a great local bar that supports local sports so much that they are closed on Sundays.

Three stars only because it's definitely, absolutely a place you have to be in the right kind of mood for. Let me put it this way. If you moved to Pittsburgh from somewhere out in Pennsyltucky and you're missing that specific kind of mood you get walking into the local, smoky ramshackle bar on the edge of town filled with seasonally laid off farm workers who look like Duck Dynasty characters trying to find happiness at the bottom of a glass of Jack Daniels or Bud Lite while being served by a bartender who looks like they'd rather be sitting in a deer-huntin' stand, you want Lou's. Even in the very small space Lou's might have to offer, once you've walked through that door, it's like you've left the city and gone back out to the country without even having to step in your pickup truck. Sometimes, in spite of my best efforts, I find myself in that kind of mood, where that's the kind of thing I want. And when I'm in that kind of mood, well, there's one place you go - and that's Lou's.

We live just down the hill from Lou's. It's a great neighborhood bar and the prices are affordable. It can get kind of smokey at times. The staff is always so attentive. Usually pretty drunk by the time we get here. It's the place to "have just one more (or five)" before heading home.

Decent dive bar with a pool table and reasonable drink prices. On the first visit, I enjoyed it but didn't feel compelled to stay that long. I would come again if in the neighborhood.

Though I am a fan of divey bars, this place was not for me. The Friday night crowd was about 15 men and 2 women, all post-40. My boyfriend and I came to check out some Bloomfield bars and we sat on the wall in the back. I was uncomfortable with all of the men backing themselves into me in my seat while playing pool. They would politely excuse themselves when they got into my boyfriend's space but completely ignored me and invaded my personal space. Lou's seems like a decent and cheap neighborhood bar for longtime (male) Bloomfield residents, but as the odd ones out we felt pretty isolated.

Oh Lou's, where to even start? Lou's just happens to be right down the street from me which makes it incredibly easy to find myself sitting there enjoying a cheap Yuengling watching one of their little tv's. The interior is small but has plenty of seating. It also has darts and pool if that's your sort of thing. The bar is this old hodge podge looking wooden situation. It's glossed over and well worn and perfectly reflects that red neon Lou's sign over the bar.The bar is smokey but still way better than say, Howlers is. The patrons are usually local yinzers and the staff are incredibly efficient and friendly. The tv's are small and are not in HD so don't go in looking for a mega-sports bar to watch any game in, although do go in if you want some serious local fans to cheer with. Major bonus? A patio you can enjoy well into the fall if you don't mind a slight chill.Major downfall? They do not accept ATM or credit cards, so be sure to have cash on you. (They do have an ATM on site though.)Did I mention I can stumble home in less then 5 minutes?By far one of my favorite Bloomfield hangouts.

It's the best bar in America; a little neon, a pool table, jukebox, cigarette smoke, cheap drinks and filled with Yinzers of all colors and creeds. Just stay the same for the next 40 years and we're good.

The name does it justice. There are beer, cocktails, and football on TV. A sign on the front door diplomatically reminds patrons to respect the next door neighbor's property and privacy. It is a declared smoker-friendly bar. I'm a non-smoker, and could only tolerate the poor air quality for a short while.

Lou's has all the elements (and more) of your local, dive bar:- it looks sketchy from the outside; you're not sure whether to go in or run away when you first approach the building- it smells like smoke- the bartender knows many of the patrons by their first names and vice versa.- cheap beers that get refilled regularly, for cheap.- entertainment: a dart board and pool table. (of course you gotta pay)- scary bathrooms- a mixed crowd, most of whom are extremely comfortable being there.- a bat behind the bar that the bartender uses to chase off people as he sees fit.Basically, it's filled with the good and bad, and if the good outweighs the bad, you keep going and become one of the guys (or gals).I can't say I recommend or don't recommend it. You know what you can handle and what you're looking for. I just laid it out there.

I used to love this dive bar back in my smoking days. Now that I've been a non smoker for 2 years, I cant even walk into Lou's bc it is so smoky. The beer is cheap, honestly I think this might be the cheapest bar in the area, and I like the relaxed cientele. If only I could tolerate the smoke...but I can't.

The bartender likes to get hammered while trying to serve patrons. Then ends up charging the patrons for stuff that they didn't ask for. Blasphemous.
