Laurel Room

This was touted as the finest dining in Altoona. We certainly had plenty of time to admire the ambience. If you enjoy lots of quality time with your dinner companions, you will have it here. We were overwhelmed by the moxie of the sommelier, who didn't let a little thing like a lack of merlot stop her from bringing whatever bottle they were trying to empty. The food was very flavorful. I can recommend the lobster mac n' cheese without hesitation, but the veal left my companion wondering how rare veal is supposed to be served. My input on the matter was never sought, and it was my entree. If your experience here is as epochal as ours, take heart in the knowledge that if the staff takes more than twenty minutes to tender your bill, you get a free cookie.
