Large Plain

We were looking for a pizza place that offered sit down service and cold beer. Large Plain fit the bill.There were only a few tables filled on a Saturday night which seemed odd but they had 10-15 staff cranking out pizzas in their kitchen so they must do a huge take out business.Our waiter was very nice and not very knowledgeable about wing sauces or best selling pizzas so we assumed he was new and not very well trained. We requested a BBQ & Hot Sauce combo for our bone in wings that was super delicious and not an option on the listed sauce options. We asked for well done wings and they were nicely cooked. We ordered a medium pizza well done with pepperoni, extra mushrooms (they were fresh which is good but not very many for extra) and black olives on half. The waiter forgot our side of marinara and brought it microwaved in its little plastic container (a definite no-no). The pizza was pretty pedestrian, nothing special. They have a huge bottle/can beer selection and a few on draft. You have to ask for a glass.Families seem to love their specials and relaxed dining room. They have two big TVs with sports on them. A gentleman that came in near the end of our meal with his three sons and another couple asked to change both TVs to what he wanted to watch even though we were watching a game on one. Would have been nice if the waiter asked to change our station but there you have it.

Great prices and food quality. We have gotten takeout pizza several times already and tried the wings for the first time too this week.

A good neighborhood pizza spot. We have eaten in and gotten delivery from here before. They have a variety of fun and unique specialty pizzas, we really like the black and gold and the pickle pizza! Also, their buffalo chicken dip is really good and comes with fried pita bread which was very tasty. It is a little more pricey than a typical chain restaurant, but for something more unique and tasty is worth it. When we have eaten in the staff is always nice and we have no issue getting a table. Every to go order has been good and as expected!

The pizza here is excellent with tasty crust that you'll want to savor. Nice bottle beer selection with quite a few drinks on tap too. Service- very friendly staff that will come back frequently to check on you. Atmosphere- lots of Steelers football art surrounding you, gives you that true hometown good vibes. I will definitely be coming back here for a delicious Pittsburgh pizza!

Accurate rating on here. The food was pretty good, but not the best. I prefer Bellisarios just a few minutes from here, but still a solid place. I just tried their cheese calzone with a side of ranch.Price for the portion was a little below average, which is nice. The calzone itself was definitely very good. Nice amount of cheese, although I would have wanted a bit more ricotta. A little bready, but not intensely. Well stuffed. Not too oily.My number one issue with it was that the bottom was burnt. That was the only soggy part, and it wasn't just a little brown, it was black. So that was disappointing.But, the sauces they served it with were delicious! They gave me ranch for no extra charge (ask for it, it's not already included). That was creamy and perfect. The red sauce was also pretty tasty.All in all, a nice pizza shop. I will give them the benefit of the doubt in saying they probably don't burn items that often, and it was just a mistake. Other than that, great food.

Another kids' coach recommended this place. Having been burned in the past w/ unreliable pizza spots for events, I was skeptical trying a new spot. He was right and I was blown away by the professionalism, price and quality! 1. The person who answered the phone was friendly and assured me my pizza would be delivered at the time requested and with a receipt.2. The driver arrived promptly on time with WARM pizzas and a friendly demeanor.My only regret? Wishing I had more $ to tip the driver.DEFINITELY Recommend. They have taken over Luciano's location (1411 Duncan Ave 15237).I miss the convenience and wedding soup of Luciano's. I wanted to give the new place a chance. Online ordering for delivery was extremely easy and I was able to pick a future date. I placed the order Saturday for Sunday lunch time ... 3 large pizzas (Mediterranean, 5 cheese & meat lovers). The toppings were abundant but more importantly the crust was still crispy . The pizza was a hit and got the word out to people living/working in the area.Definitely will be back. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The menu for the Large Plain pizza restaurant lists appetizers such as jalapeno poppers and onion rings, cheesy rolls, salads, wings, gyros, calzones, hoagies, wedgies, a few desserts, beverages, and, of course, pizzas. Prices are average.So far, I have placed two orders through Large Plain's website. The first order was on a busy Friday evening, and the second order was on a snowy Sunday afternoon. Both times, the delivery drivers delivered my food within 40-50 minutes. The drivers said hello, thanked me, and wished me a good day/evening. Here are my reviews for the foods:Fries with Cheese - 4 stars - These cheesy fries had started to cool off in the cold weather during the driver's car ride to my house, so the cheese was not gooey. But the fries and cheese still tasted good, and the size was generous.Greek Salad - 3 stars - This Greek salad could have used more lettuce and fewer black olives. The other ingredients--feta cheese, tomato, onion, and cucumber--were added in the right amount. I appreciate that the Greek dressing was in containers on the side, so it did not make my lettuce soggy.Pizza - 4 stars - I ordered a small pizza with traditional cheese and sauce and a topping of green peppers. My husband ordered a small pizza with pepperoni. The pizzas tasted good.Lamb Gyro - 4 stars - My husband ate this gyro, and I taste-tested one bite. We both thought that the gyro had a good flavor and freshness. My husband appreciated that the employees correctly added no tomatoes as we had requested. Other ingredients included lettuce, onion, gyro meat, and sauce.Chicken tenders - 4.5 stars - I received several chicken tenders that contained juicy and meaty chicken and had a crispy breading. Bone-in Wings - 4 stars - These wings contained a good amount of meat and had a crispy skin. I had ordered the garlic flavor, and neither my husband nor I tasted much garlic.Boneless Wings - 4 stars - I enjoyed the taste of these boneless wings. I had ordered a spiciness of mild, and I liked the flavor.Spinach rolls - 3 stars - These spinach rolls were a decent size, but the dough looked soggy. They definitely contained a lot of spinach.

I came in to the Pittsburgh area for work and was asking my coworkers what the best pizza was in the area. Without a second thought, they recommended Large Plain. I ordered their wings with hot sauce and a medium "meat pizza". The staff was amazingly friendly when I picked it up. The pizza itself was delicious. It had an amazing crust that was very flavorful, the toppings were plentiful and the sauce was excellent. The wings were perfectly cooked with a nice crunch. The only issue I had was the sauce was rather salty. I am not sure if they brine the wings prior to cooking or if they add a bit of salt to their sauce. But the flavor was still very tasty.If you find yourself in the area and want an awesome pizza, look no further than Plain Slice.

Food is great, we order the family deal at least once a month and it's a great deal (breadsticks, large pizza pizza, wings, a whole hoagie and a 2 liter for ~$50). So much food and everything is good! Definitely recommend them.
