Kilimanjaro Flavour is a food-truck business that serves Tanzanian foods. I first heard about this food truck about one year ago, and since then, I hoped that the owner would park at a location near me soon. Today was the day that she parked near me! I decided to order dinner. Her menu listed foods such as meat samosas, sweet plantains, chickpea dumplings, zanzibar coconut shrimp, wakanda braised beef, and zanzibar coconut chicken. Chicken on a stick was not available because she would need to make and sell it in large amounts.I ordered four servings of foods, and after several minutes, the owner gave them to me. I rate the meat samosas as 5 stars, and I am happy that the owner convinced me to order two servings. I rate the sweet plantains as 5 stars, and I want to point out that the serving size is enough for multiple people. I rate the wakanda braised beef with vegetables and rice as 4 stars. It tasted good but could use a bit more flavor. My husband had no interest in ordering any foods, but I really enjoyed eating my foods. I might never travel to Tanzania, so I am happy that my tastebuds got to go. :)

Really great!Didn't know what to expect from Tanzanian food but we were all impressed. My husband got the beef and said it tasted like nothing he had eaten before but it was good. I had the chicken which reminded me a lot of Thai curry but thicker? Very yummy for sure. Would seek out this truck again!

I do not know much about the owner/operator of this food truck, but I do know she is passionate about her food, and the customers she serves.Fortunately, Kilamanjaro Flavour was set up at the Bellvue Farmers Market so I had the opportunity to give it a try. Food preparation took longer than the normal food truck service, lbut it was due to the care given to each customer. Basically made-to-order meals , decent portions that are very fresh, appealing and tasteful. Her menu today offered either shrimp, chicken, beef , or vegetable as an entree. Rice and vegetables come with the meal. Not sure if this is her standard menu but I do plan to follow her at some other stops to find out.

I stopped by here a couple of Thursdays ago with my wife for dinner. We have food trucks that come to our neighborhood and on this particular day it happened to be Kilimanjaro Flavor. Since it is a food truck there isn't much to say about it other than it was being worked by a singe lady on this day. This actually caused some issue as her methodology for working was to take everyone's order that was in line and then work through those before taking the next order. That meant during our batch that she took 11 orders and the person who arrived just after she was done had to wait longer than 45 minutes just to place her order. For dinner on this day my wife and I both decided to go with the coconut chicken and then we also decided to split an order of the samosas. It took about an hour from us arriving and about 45 minutes after ordering for us to receive our food. Once we did, we headed back to our house to eat it. The first thing that I tried was the samosa and it ended up being pretty good. The exterior was crispy while the interior was warm and flavorful and it paired nicely with the dipping sauce that came with it. After I had finished my samosa I started into my entree which ended up being really good. The chicken was tender and juicy and I really appreciated the coconut sauce that was on it. That sauce also helped to flavor the bed of rice that it was on. Finally the vegetables were a nice addition and while they weren't too flavorful on their own, I appreciated them being there and also ended up dipping them into the sauce. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I wasn't a fan of the ordering system, the food itself was good and justifies a visit to this food truck.

I stopped by the food truck while they were at stick city brewery. I enjoy the different options they have. Kilimanjaro Flavour was looked to be a good change of pace. I ordered the coconut shrimp and samosa. The sauce was like a curry but instead of the curry flavor it was very coconutty. It came with rice and vegetables which made a nice meal. The samosa was good as well, but aren't all deep fried things.

"Vitafunio vitamu" (that's Swahili for "delicious small bites"): Samosas with dipping sauce were tasty. Although the plantains (prepared similarly to "tostones" in South America) are not something I've ever seen over 35 years traveling in East Africa, they were delicious nonetheless.

I was able to check out Kilimanjaro Flavor while visiting Pittsburgh in October 2020. The mobile restaurant was parked outside of Hitchhiker Brewing in Sharpsburg and was keeping extremely busy with orders from brewery customers. It took some time for the chef to be able to take new orders, and I can attest that the food was definitely worth the wait! The Zanzibar Sauteed Coconut Chicken was creamy, slightly sweet, and rich in spice. Despite being very busy, the chef was warm and gracious to her customers. This is definitely a mobile restaurant to seek out for delicious, comforting African cuisine!

They came to my mother's neighborhood this summer as part of a weekly food truck promotion. One of the best takeouts I had all summer. Please visit the North hills again, we will absolutely be ordering!

Absolutely outstanding food! This food truck was parked outside of Highmark Stadium for the Pittsburgh Jazz Fest last night, which was a blessing. We had the ultra-tender and flavorful chicken with coconut rice and crispy fried green plantains with the most amazing sauce. Oh, and phenomenal samosas! Every aspect of this food--the quality, flavor and presentation--was on point. My husband and I woke up at 5:00am talking about this food and wondering where they will be next.
