Kaufman Tavern

I love this place! I've never had a bad meal, and their bar area is one of my favorite places to hang out. Not pictured, but the Italian bread and the olive tapenade were fantastic. The briny olive mixed with luscious olive oil made for a great bite. Also, the smoked wings are a must! Buffalo sauce had great heat. The star of the show was my smoked salmon burger. The smoked flavor gave lox vibes, but it was a hearty amount of salmon. The richness was balanced perfectly with the onion and arugula. My side salad was fresh and had a great pop of acid. I must have been craving carbs and ripped a piece of my bun off in the pic... the bun was good and fresh, too! Washed it down with a Merlot. I will be back soon!

I came here with friends for a drink and some food. We got the charcuterie board, charred cauliflower, and the beet salad. Cauliflower was probably my favorite thing, but the cheese options came with a large slices. Overall it's a good option in zelienople and obviously a favorite of locals.

We have dined here many times before Covid but last night was my last time I will go to Kaufman Tavern. I made reservations a month a head of time for Valentines Dinner though Open Table on their website. I had reservations for 5:15pm we arrived at 5:00 and was told to they would seat us closer to 5:15pm so we had a seat by the Host desk I got a message though Open Table that are table was ready or text 1 if we were on are way OK!! so we were literally 2 feet away from Host desk 2 people working there and we had to go ask them if are table was ready because I got a message though Open Table , he said yes ( WOW what if I had not brought my phone with me). So we got seated and in the menu book was a special menu for Valentines Night but only in my husbands not one in mine. We sat and waited for 25 minutes no water served notting!! there was 3 waitresses in the room we were seated in and none would look our way only walk to there tables and then leave the room again. So after 25 minutes of being ignored we walked to Host Desk and said we were leaving she just said OK. So disappointed with this restaurant we had always enjoyed it in the past and had good service but wow has things changed after Covid Very sad it was a great Restaurant before hopefully they will hire a new manager who will change things.

Excellent food, decor, and service. I've been waiting years for the Kaufman Tavern to reopen, and I'm not disappointed. I have to agree with Troy's fabulous review. The decor is meticulously Victorian. So why is the music rock music?I enjoyed the entire experience, my steak was cooked as asked, the dessert was stunning, and my server, Lacey, was highly skilled.

I actually stumbled upon this place when looking at another area restaurant. Their is a public parking lot in the rear and if you use the front doors the hostess stand is a little in to your right. We were promptly seated for our reservations. Inside is quiet and tables are spaced out enough to be able to converse with your party. I must say, every entree we ordered was fantastic, no one, not even the kids had any complaints, every thing was delicious! I am very apprehensive about ordering a steak from anywhere but my favorite steakhouse but the filet minion was cooked absolutely perfect with a medium red warm center and the price was more than reasonable. We elected for desert and the cheesecake was fantastic. We did not know upon arrival but their is a speak easy downstairs that is open Fridays and Saturdays. The hostess was kind enough to give us a tour after our meal. We certainly will be returning!

My husband and I went here to celebrate Valentine's Day and it's the perfect date night spot -- from the lighting to the decor to the history of the building, it's a romantic setting for sure. We started with the bruschetta appetizer and it was so fresh and delicious. I ordered the pork chop, which came with charred brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. It was great but I did question if it was fully cooked at its thickest part. My husband's New York strip was great -- it came with garlicky green beans and fingerling potatoes. The chocolate torte for dessert was great, but we should have asked if it contained nuts. The menu didn't say and my husband has a mild allergy so that could have turned out badly -- I took the first bite and was able to tell him there were walnuts in the crust. We would definitely come back for another special occasion -- we really enjoyed it here.

I have never had a bad meal at Kaufman Tavern. I love their mushroom burger, Reuben (which I had today) & their hot fried chicken sandwich. The broccoli cheddar soup today was delicious and they always offer mushroom onion soup and shrimp bisque. They have a nice happy hour 4-6. Teri the bartender is great. Reservations recommended because they can get busy at dinner time.

I love going there for lunch. The roasted beet salad is delicious. They have a good variety to choose from.

Excellent food, great service and beautiful atmosphere. Upscale atmosphere with homemade flavors. Our go to restaurant.

Been coming here for years. We have had dinner here with family, friends, so many great memories. We also had our rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar downstairs. The facility was ADA complaint and the staff was very helpful with guests of ours with disabilities. The staff here is like a family and so kind. We really appreciate everything Kaufmans has done for our family. Highly recommend steak, crab cakes, seafood linguine, burgers, crawfish and crab dip. You must stop here.
