Johnny's Fine Italian Dining

I love the food here. I would include a photo but we literally ate it all. Had Johnnys chicken and ricotta stuffed eggplant. I would give a five but service was pretty slow tonight. This is the first time we had slow service and it is Valentine's Day. Staff were very pleasant.

We flew into Pittsburgh this day and called my Mom to take her out to eat! She recommended Johnny's Italian restaurant which is why we went there!! We started by splitting a Caesar salad very good and delicious. The dressing tasted like homemade! And also started with a bottle of Reporta Sangiovese at 40% off, a nice treat for being here on Wednesdays. Mom had their Spaghetti and Meatballs which was very good, Mike had started with Arancini balls and then had the Veal Saltimbocca a La Romano and I got the Veal Marsala. Both were excellent and delicious! After that we were done and ended up taking a lot of it back to our hotel and eating it during the week. Our waitress was excellent in taking our order, making suggestions and getting Mike and myself Manhattans with extra cherry juice and my Mom got a beer to start. I loved the ambiance here, the restaurant was very busy yet they found us a booth fairly quickly and we got up to it and sat in it. The restaurant was decorated with Christmas ornaments and it put me in the Christmas mood.

Johnnys has forever been a family resturant for as long as I can remember. While they have been around for awhile their recipes are the same and amazing as they always have been. I highly recommend the chicken arrabbiata dish if you enjoy spicy cuisine. Their wedding soup was also full of flavor and very filling in portion. I always have food to take home. The staff are well trained and kind. I only give four stars due to how hard it can be to make actually getreservation,but that goes to show how popular they are!

Everything we tasted was delicious and fresh. My friend originally made a reservation for a party of 10 at 7PM. She'd heard about Johnny's so many times, and now a friend is playing live music tonight. I'll get to the issues after. The atmosphere is fun like the others describe, an Italian place like my parents used to take us when we were little. We had the cheese sticks- I thought to die for. Friends had shrimp, strip steak, fillet, garlic bread (with their really good bread they put out in baskets) eggplant parm, pasta with sauce, and a shrimp past dish, I had a taste of chicken marsala - very good- didn't realize I had to pick pasta as a side. (Ordering was yelling over music and playing telephone down the table.) He ordered gnocchi and meatball- will taste tomorrow as it was so late we had to take it to go. He works at 6am. So for the delays, I show up at 7, and everyone trickled in. The BDAY girl let us know she HAD called to update it to a party of 7, still at 7. There were still 3 extra places set, and it seemed as though the staff was awaiting their arrival as we hadn't gotten drinks ordered. There wasn't open seat, it seems in the house, so it's unfortunate they didn't rearrange, if possible, for another table. Also. Somehow they had us down for 6pm. If you met us, you'd know better. After every other table ordered, we got our shouts in. Eventually we hear a big loud crash - yup that was all our food. If you've worked in a restaurant, you know the back has to be livid at this point. So, we are waiting again and decide we are going to have to take ours to go. It was still fun to go with friends enjoy the live music, we could have done without the passive aggression and the strange literal running around by some of the staff that ended, as we predicted, in an accident. If he didn't have to be up so early, it would've been fine. We just didn't expect to get home at 11 from a 7pm reservation. Felt bad for the kitchen staff. Sorry no food pics

Excellent food in an old world styled restaurant. I've been here a bunch of times and it is really excellent. Red pepper soup, beans and greens, stuffed mushrooms, Johnny's chicken. All were delicious and simply the best. Must try. Service too is excellent. I can't say enough.

Great lil Old school Italian place that probably needs updating but that's part of the charm. Food takes me back to The Godfather movie days when I was young and my parents would take me out for spaghetti. Everything I've ever had there is great. Never been on a Friday nite but they have music. Johnnys chicken is my favorite so far, and don't forget to get a side of spinach. We're going back tomorrow to try all of the apps. And celebrate a family member's success. I'm tired of trying different Italian places and being disappointed. This one is for me.

Very 1980's decor but really enjoyed the food. Thought i was in a Soprano's episode! LolAmazing portions and the staff was extremely friendly. Will definitely go back!!

The service is excellent !The staff is extremely friendly and helpful!The food was excellent there were 7 of us for dinner they got all of our orders correct of course 6 of us got the barbecued shrimp dinner I was the only different one I had the chicken ala Johnny's with hot and sweet peppers it was delicious! We will definitely be going back there

The service was terrible. Waited two hours for our food and 45 minutes for the waitress to come over. no one said that they were sorry for our wait. The waitress never came over the entire time we were waiting no one apologized, or offered us anything. we ordered a shrimp cocktail for $15 and there were three shrimp only and every other place we have gone and had a shrimp cocktail had at least five jumbo shrimp. food is good but service terrible and customer service is horrible.
