If you want to buy fresh meat and feel like family, definitely come here. They're reasonably priced, always nice, and the products speak for themselves - delicious! We've gotten turkey sausage, fresh thick bacon, and sage ground pork. You can call them the week before for preorders, as well as join their text service. You have to pick up your preorder between 5-10:30 AM, but then you can also buy some things there (if it's not sold out!) the texting method has worked out really well for us. They accept both cash and cards. The Saturday Farmers Market overall is great, but I've enjoyed my experience with JL Kennedy! Parking is super easy in the lot next to the market. While you're there, checkout all of the other amazing vendors at the Market!

We have been buying our meat from Kennedy's for many years now. The quality is truly first rate, much higher than places like the Market District etc.. We have had no bad experiences with them in thirty years!! Highly recommended!

I paid for a "fresh, local, free-range" turkey, but I think I got a Butterball. For 2 years in a row I ordered a 20-25 lb. turkey from JL Kennedy Meat Stand and both years the turkeys I got were frozen solid. When I inquired about it after the first year, the woman told me that they keep their refrigerators really cold so if I pick up the turkey later in the day it would probably be frozen. I had picked it up fairly early, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This year I picked up the turkey at 6:30 AM. I felt the turkey at the stand and it felt soft, so I figured this time I got a fresh turkey. When I got it home and began prepping it, the inside was still frozen solid.I called the farm and the man I spoke with told me that he keeps his truck cold and it may have frozen in there. I told him that it's not possible for it to freeze on the inside and remain thawed on the outside. It just doesn't work that way! He told me that I can return it, but that wasn't an option because I had to put it in brine and go to work. Also, the market is 1/2 hour each way from my house. Also, both years the turkeys had the giblets inside white paper bags that were mechanically sealed (just like Butterball) and both had pop-up plastic indicators, just like Butterball. Butterball sells fine turkeys, and if I wanted a Butterball I could have gotten one for 1/3 the price at any supermarket. I'm on the look-out for a farm that sells REAL fresh, local, free-range turkeys for next year.
