I've been looking for a croissant place and stumbled upon this gem on Yelp. So decided to give it a shot, so we were a little late in coming in, so many things were sold out but the smell of goodies were still in the air. Saw the size of the croissant and I was amazed! We got a plain croissant, chocolate croissant and an almond chocolate croissant. The Almond chocolate croissant was too sweet for me, but guessing thats how it's supposed to be. The other 2 croissants were great. I would have love more chocolate in the chocolate croissant but when I think about it now it was like the right ratio of chocolate to croissant to get just the right amount every time. They had other sweet things that we avoided cause they all looked good! Will definitely be back for more croissants !P.S. parking is street parking and they have free parking during christmas season :)

Jean-Marc Chatellier's French Bakery is the BEST bakery in all of Pittsburgh. Customers may special-order desserts, or they may casually stop in and see what is available. I have always just stopped in. During my most recent visit, I saw display cases of macarons, croissants, kouign amann, palmiers, danishes, breton shortbreads, nut rolls, key-lime pies, cake slices, etcetera. Here are my opinions: The lemon tart and the lemon/raspberry cake were very moist and flavorful. The palmier was perfectly crisp and sugary. My husband loves the chocolate and plain croissants. The key lime pie had a perfectly crunchy crust and a refreshingly tart lime custard. The cherry danish was large, moist, and sweet. The package of macarons contained 10 flavors (several other flavors are available to purchase separately), and their shells had the perfect texture, and their fillings were intensely flavored. The carrot cake was moist and had a rich icing. The breton shortbread also tasted very rich. Important information: This bakery is NOT open on every day of the week, and sometimes the owners go on vacation, so make sure that you check their website for their hours. The town of Millvale does not have much parking, so my husband and I usually drive around a little to find a parking spot on the street. Two years ago, I read in a news article that the owner Jean-Marc has operated this business for over 30 years, and he is trying to *sell* the business to a buyer who can carry on the brand at the same expert level. I hope that Jean-Marc can soon find this special buyer.

A very special relative had an important birthday that needed a special dessert. His favorite dessert of all time is key lime pie. I polled the Pittsburgh Foodies Facebook group and everyone pointed me to Jean-Marc. We also ordered a variety of pastries for ourselves and gosh were each impressive. The pie was large enough that so many people got to try each. I've heard from person after person saying that it's the best key lime pie they've ever had. The birthday guy is a well traveled man who has spent many vacations in Florida and even he said he's never had one better. Each pasty we tried was the very best version that we've ever had. We've had multiple visits since that initial one and will continue coming back!

This is no doubt my favorite bakery in Pittsburgh, period. We only had the opportunity to try it recently and I've been kicking myself for not going sooner. The macarons are top tier here. Typically the issue i run into with flavored macarons is that they are waaay to sweet and it overwhelms the flavor that they are supposed to be. The macarons from here actually taste like the flavor advertised, which is a rarity!Secondly let's talk about the croissants. The chocolate almond croissant is insane delectable. The filling is exquisite and the outside is quite crunchy when i toasted it ever so slightly. This rivals many of the bakeries I've been to in New york, which was a real surprise as you would drive right past this place and not even bat an eye. The only negative is the parking sucks here, but get here early for a real treat.

I couldn't wait to try a french pastry shop and found this bakery in my search for a taste of authentic French delights! I brought my husband and young daughter with me during Valentine's Day weekend to get some treats. Parking is tricky but not impossible to find on a side street if the Main Street is full. We didn't pay anything to park but I did notice metered parking on the street for other days of the week so bring coins! The bakery is only open two days a week (Fridays and Saturdays) with limited hours so expect a line outside the door to wait but it goes extremely fast. Inside the bakery is very small. There's a piece of paper to handpick what macarons you want. I chose a box of 18 with varied flavors like chocolate, strawberry, mango passion fruit, almond, espresso, Nutella, orange, lemon, raspberry, etc. everything is delicious! The macarons are perfect--chewy with amazing flavor. We got their signature pie of the day, key lime which was decorated with cream, a handmade pastry flower and a heart. We got chocolate and cheese danishes, slices of cake (chocolate, opera, and raspberry) all with multiple layers. The lemon tarts are exquisite--I enjoyed those profoundly. i also got the Pastry Chef's signature cake called a Breton, from the same region as the chef, Brittany, France. I froze it to save for later. I highly recommend going early to get what you're hoping for with decent parking --we spent $90 in baked goods. I would go back again absolutely!!! It's a bit of France in Pittsburgh! Bon appetit!

The products are great the people are great I just wish they stayed open the whole year like the rest of us and not just close shop for 4 months during peak demand.

I've always wanted to stop here. They're only open 2 days a week. It was worth the wait! I had the chocolate croissant, tiramisu cake, carrot cake and nut roll. The nut roll was heavy with nuts. The cake slices were moist and flavorful. The chocolate croissant was same as I had in Europe. Even though it as busy they waited on customers quickly and were friendly.

Best French pastries around in this area. I have even been to Paris & other cities my self to compare and Jean Marcs is still #1. I grew up with this bakery & have shared it with a lot of family/friends along the way. I think what makes it so special is its a small bakery where things are not over produce in a mass amount, and there is not also 50 some different choices. The quality in each item is so fresh!
