Oatmeal pie. You must try it. It's similar to baked oatmeal, but even more delicious! I also enjoyed the sour hard cider. So unique and good. On an entire campus, there's a little gift shop, three goats (kids under twelve get free for free to give to the goats), a tavern, and a restaurant inside a 1762 historic space. Service is excellent and there's a large parking lot out front.

I got the fish and chips here as well as a stout beer to wash it down. Loved the staff who took care and of us and our drinks. It has a local vibe, yet is close enough to the main road that you get a lot a visitors cone in for a meal on their way across the state. Desserts a good as well.

My husband and I have stopped here a few times traveling north to Pittsburgh. The food is terrific, the people are so friendly. Beautiful structure and if you're lucky enough to sit by the fire in the cold months, it makes the ambience that much better. My husband had the steak with sweet potato fries and beets. The beets weee unusually excellent! I wasn't as hungry but I had the French onion soup which was probably the best I ever had.

This place is top notch. The food is impeccable service is great! The atmosphere is beautiful and historic. Literally, what's not to love here! It was the perfect candle lit dinner! Our food was absolutely delish and I'm forever craving the salmon I had here! The waitress got word it was my birthday and gave me a free dessert! It was perfect!

After passing this establishment over 100 times , we stopped in for dinner. This building had been here approximately since 1762 and was a French fort & trading post! With that said, it is not totally handicap accessible. Neat historic feel, good food selection that was very delicious. 3 miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike entrance - exit 146 ( Bedford)

Ambience, food, our server - all amazing!!! Our server gave suggestions and was patient as we all decided. Her recs were 100% but I don't know that you could go wrong with anything on the menu. I loved the historical aspect of this restaurant and how they've preserved so much of it

Do I make exceptions for charm or atmosphere over food quality?? This is a rare occasion. If the food was good, it break the spell that has u convinced u just crawled in from a snowy battle, looking to hunker down w/ some cider & potted meat. I was ready to dry my breeches & waistcoat over the smokey cauldron when looked down & realized I'm in sneaks & yoga pants. Thick stone walls, candlesticks, wood burning fire, smoke in the air- it truly feels like another time.Don't expect a gourmet meal or even food that makes sense. I ordered a filet sandwich- they literally put a whole filet on a hamburger bun, then asked if I wanted a side of ketchup or mayo for it. And I ate it, along w/ the salad dressed in interesting vinaigrette of chopped eggs & beets. The Oatmeal Pie knocked my socks off. It was truly good, olde tyme, & melted my heart that staff shared the recipe. These are good people. If you're looking for a killer meal- go elsewhere. This is a great place for some drinks & and lite bites in a truly unique setting.

Solid food and cool vibe! Parking is super easy. The staff were friendly and food came out quick. We just got a few drinks and apps in the tavern part - would love to grab dinner downstairs.

I've been spending a lot of time traveling for business between the DC burbs and Western PA. My path routinely takes me through Bedford. So, I figured I'd stop at one my favorite watering holes, the historic Jean Bonnet. It's still historic, but not so much a favorite this time.I ordered a bison burger rare. It was medium and dry . Really dry. I know bison can be lean, thus the rare doneness. Alas, it didn't happen. Fries: cool, not even warm. I'm sad that I had a negative experience. So I'll give them another chance.
