I love a good hotdog and you can get one here. I was traveling through North Lima and saw Jay's and thought I would stop and I wasn't disappointed. The hot dog with chili and onions is a must order and a side of fresh cut fries makes it a great lunch.

Ok, this is a perfect example of a place that should get 3.5 stars; definitely better than a 3 star but a few things would knock it below 4. Let me explain:This is the definition of fast-food AND greasy spoon. You need to know that before you visit. If you are looking for a "restaurant" this is not the place for you. However, if you understand that some of the best food, and food experiences, come from the most unlikely places, then enjoy my friend!Small place with a drive-thru. Inside has 4 tables and 7 stools. Grill is right behind the counter so you see everything they do. I ordered the #6 Hungry Man because I wanted to try both a gyro and a hot dog. Let's talk about the food:Gyro - It was really, really good. The pita was perfect and the meat had great flavor. The negative on the gyro was the tzatziki sauce; it was incredibly runny and didn't have a very strong flavor (3.8 stars). My only guess is that it is watered down. Even still, I really enjoyed the gyro.Hot dog- They call them "Jays" and there are a lot of ingredient options. I went with mustard and chili. This is obviously why the place is called Jay's Famous HOT DOGS. This is the way to go! The hot dog was great. The chili had an awesome taste: kinda smokey and peppery. The bun was very fresh too which was unexpected to be honest. On future visits, I will definitely just get hot dogs!Fries- Fresh cut. There was basically no salt so I had to add quite a bit. They may have been just a little undercooked too. However, I still thought they were good and had no problem eating all of them. But...it is one thing that would keep the stars below 4 so keep that in mind. (3.6 stars)I ate in and as I was eating there was a steady crowd of people coming in and going through the drive-thru. The girls behind the counter did a great job but I did see more than a few people wait 10+ minutes for their food. (3.5 stars) Just know that if you visit right at lunch time you might end up waiting a little bit. If that happens, be patient!! Long review but some important things to know about this place. If you are considering it, I say go for it! Enjoy the atmosphere, experience, and surprisingly good food.

Came here during my brother's wedding to a girl from Ohio. She has never been to Jay's and she is missing out. My dad, brothers, and kids came here not once, but twice in the weekend we were here. This place is D' Bomb!Does close early though.

I've been going to Jay's for years as a take out customer. The food is ok with a limited menu selection but that's not my complaint. Recently they have someone new at the drive thru windows who has a horrendous attitude toward me the two times I've ordered food from her. I'm just trying to get a take order and I'm always polite but apparently there is an issue with this woman. Not everyone is suited for direct interaction with customers and having endured this woman's attitude directed at me twice now they've lost me as a customer for good. If the owner is reading this all I can say is that I was a regular customer but not any longer.

Tasty food but pricey, Some of the employees seemed not to be friendly, Like the customer is putting them out, really?? Ok for going Dutch, but not a family of 5. Gyros have a small amount of meat anymore, I don't mind paying for a sandwich, as long as it's actually a SANDWICH!

I've been wanting to stop in to the Jay's in Boardman but haven't had a chance so when I was heading back from Columbiana and saw there was one in North Lima I decided to stop to pickup lunch. I got the gyro with fries combo - the fries were like any fresh cut fry but the gyro was to die for! Made with freshly cut gyro meat, not the pre-pack stuff that they heat on the grill, it was just so so good. I'll definitely be back for another one sometime very soon!

I should know better to get a gyro from a place that is not gyro based. The sandwich had little meat for the price. The meat looked dry on the skewer and when they cut it off the skewer to fry it and warm it up, they added water or some liquid to it. That liquid transferred to the sandwich and watered down the tsatsiki sauce so the sandwich became a runny mess. Not sure about the hot dogs being famous, but they should gain fame for the gyros...as in STAY AWAY fame.
